They're fairly quick, good handling. Weigh a fair whack but should do 0-60 in say 7.8 secs I'd have thought

The lad in work used to have one and was standard. 3 separate times from lights I've beat him up to NSL speeds..
My SRI is supposedly 8 secs, so take into that what you will but I doubt 7.2-7.5?

A 106 Gti with breathing mods such as Paul_J's (140 ish bhp) would be quicker than a Gti-6.

i sold my 16xe corsa (136bhp)for a pahse 2 GTi-6. It is much much quicker, more refined and handles like a dream through the twisties. As for 106 gti's keeping with them, well im yet to be troubled. love racing against 172 clios though!!
for the money than can be had for they are excellent motors and with cams, exhaust/de-cat and re-map can get 200bhp+ easy.
0-60 is 7.2-7.5

topshot yours completely standard?
you got an exhaust on it? filter? etc?
I hate people who call their car standard and then quote figures of how quick their car is as a standard car.
the 2.0 16v boys do this a lot, as nearly every one has at least an aftermarket exhaust and that could be another 5-10 bhp with induction etc.

mine has custom ind kit based on K&N filter. And to be honest the standard exhaust system and inlet is an excellent design so no way will they gain anymore than 3-5bhp MAX.

I think we should get your car on the 1/4 mile mate. Put your money where your mouth is (not literally lol).
Just curious to see what 1/4 mile time a 306 Gti-6 does, I haven't a clue.

The 8.4 time is the Peugeot figure, it's not 0-60 it's 0-62 and for a half payload.
The 0-60 time is actually 7.2secs and 6.9secs for the Rallye.

What car are you getting rick?
1.8 16v is only 126 bhp aint it?
The Gti-6 will cain this.
If its in a astra 1.8 sxi - will be slow.
If its in a corsa C - it still won't be anywhere near a match for a 306-Gti6 - in my opinion.

hmm..
1.8 Corsa C
123bhp
1090kgs
I'd of thought that'd be lucky to be doing high 16's 1/4 mile - probably around 17's?
Where as gti-6 will be in 15's I would've thought.
It may not sound like much, but in reality thats a big difference

when you look at bhp per tonne they are identical, both running 119bhp, so thats where this debate came from. once i get the car i will head to pod to test her how before the modding begins

165bhp / 1400 kg = 117bhp per tonne
125bhp/ 1044kg = 119bhp per tonne
i believe thats the calc
corsa has five speed close ratio box
btw im disagreeing that the gti-6 is faster its more how much he'll kick my ass im talkin about
