Firstly, if you are going to take a weight gaining supplement when is the best time of the day to take it? I'm currently taking a weight gain supplement in the morning and a protein supplement after training in the evening. Is this the norm?
Secondly, what precautions do you take to stop hernias? I've had 3 before and yesterday whilst training I felt a little bubbling feeling in my groin so stopped immediately.

it's little use taking a weight gaining supplement unless youve got a proper diet going on that will compliment it. So if not I would look into this before anything else. And most supplements will say when to take it (before/after training, morning/night, etc.)

How can you compare creatin to weight gainers or whey supplements? Creatine is a waste of money IMO.

eggs, Turkey, chicken, cottage cheese, natural peanut butter, flax oilbrown rice, yams, whole wheat bread, steak, various vegitables and fruits, a GOOD whey protein powder....All of these are excelent foods on a diet.
It is also good to break your meals up into 4-6 smaller meals.
Try for 1.5 grams of protein per lb (of your weight), ~5000 calories.
Try not to ingest calcium products RIGHT after working out too, the absorb protein so your body doesn't get it as fast as it could. Also, eat some slow burning protein before you go to bed, and get plenty of sleep (cottage cheese, and lots of it).

Where's the protein? You wont be gaining any muscle with that diet. If you're looking to build muscle your body needs to be in an anabolic state. You need to consume a good amount of protein, and carbs, every 2-3 hours. If you're bodybuilding on that diet you're body will be in a catabolic state and you'll just be canabalising your own muscle.

Creatine = Shoot.
Great Diet and in terms of supplements: -
Protein = Three times a day. I highly recommend Allsports DP90 Protein. 90% Protein and the bollocks really.
Amino Acids = Once after every training session and only then. I also highly recommend Allsports Amino Load Advanced Formula.
Amino Acids act as the builders and the Protein as the bricks so to speak. Oh and your body... the temple.
P.S: - I can get all supplements of any nature at trade price.

Oh... and best forms of naturally occuring Proteins are:
Eggs = 100% Protein.
Then Fish = Around 70% Protein. Tuna being the best. Then Salmon. Then Mackerel.
The Red Meat = Between 40% and 55% Protein.

you should be trying for atleast 140-200g of protein a day at your weight, so need more than that IMO.

Can't go wrong with that. In all fairness though (depending upon how big you want to get) true bodybuilders couldn't get as big as they are if it wasn't for supplements. Almost impossible to take in (eat) enough Protein through the day to provide your grwoing muscles with what you need.
Whole cooked chickens from Asda or Morrisons are also great for Protein. Forgot to put Chicken in the list: -
Chicken = 55% - 65% Protein (Better than Red Meat)

Tiger i disagree that tuna is a good quality protein, ive read a few studies and have always believed that eggs are 100% protein, chicken/turkey is around 70% protein and tuna is around 40% protein. Paul Borreson always used to talk about tuna being a poor quality protein at his seminars. But you can bring the quality of the protein up if you consume it with a good quality protein, such as whey etc.

That's still well under 100g protein daily, so i'd say it's not so good. You also need a good portion of fruit and vegetables throughout the day.

I've got a question, My diet is holding me back, i've always had a poor one but i'm doing my best to try and make it better. I don't like a lot of foods and i'm also lactose intolerant (not full on, just avoid milk,cheese, still have chocolate etc, as long as i dont have loads i'm ok)
Anyway, its really hard for me to put on weight, im 6ft 2 and weight 12 stone, been going to gym years now, not full on probably twice a week average.
diet wise regarding intake and that, would i be better eating whatever i can, (ilke choclate and crisps when i'm at work as this is all they sell (walkers arn't that unhealthy these days) rather than not eating at all?
