Hi guys, basically i went into work today and the manager sat me down and basically told me that someone in the store has accused me of stealing something, and that im going to be suspended.

Now first things, i havent stole a thing so its a bit hard for that accusation to be true or for them to prove it

Secondly, after this had been brought to my attention i asked, how long the suspension was for and he said he didnt know, i always thought i had to be given a time for the suspension and also, i thought i had to be given the chance to explain my self etc, but i wasnt he wouldnt even tell me what im ment to of stole

So im a bit confused really TBH and was looking for advice on what i can do, as i dont think its fair that from one persons accusation hes come to the conclusion that he thinks its true, with no proof or evidence

Anyway Thanks Rob

Thats totally wrong, they surely would need to give you a written/verbal explanation, they can't just suspend you like that

Have to be working for a company for 12months before you can take industrial action I've been told.

Guys where I used to work were sacked on suspicion of stealing, no evidence, but had no legal comeback as they'd only been there for a few months.

They have to give you the chance to put your side of the story across. And in this case there is no side as you didn't steal anything. You need to go higher, was it the store manager that suspended you? Get in touch ASAP with the area / regional manager. They can't take one persons word and not let the other party be involved in the discussions etc.
And if what you say is true then there is no proof and the accusations will fall on that fact.

Have you fell out with somebody at work? has somebody got it in for you?

I sort of put this point across by saying so if everyone accused someone of stealing then you would have to suspend everyone ... he didnt really answer that

Well mate. Sorry to hear bout that firstly, but if that was my work that had suspended me on one persons word, with no proof. I would be looking for another job - because I wouldn't want to work for a company who thought that much of their staff.

Hope it all works it self out for you mate.

Ask the citizens advice for any info

They dont need to tell u how long the suspension is for, at my old work about 10 folk got suspended at same time including 2 managers and they didnt have to get told how long, they ended up being suspended for 5 months then sacked.

Good luck though!
