Your post doesn't make sense.

Do you mean how much could your premium go up, how much will it pay out?

Answer is, it's upto your insurer.

ok sorry.

i had a crash the other night, i pulled out infron f someone, he crashed into me. i said i was gunna pay him off without goin thru insurers first off but hes been quoted a grand which is fookin stupid seeing as it was only a crappy jreg astra. so looks like im gunna claim on my ins to sort him out. i dunno how all this insurance stuff works so any rough idea how much my premium will rise?

its hard to say how much your premium will rise by due to not knowing who you are insured with or will get insured with and on what car etc

well since its a J-Reg Astra the insurance almost certainly WONT pay out, they; just write the car off and give him its value

whichever way you look at it though your better off claiming and letting the insurance sort it out, as chances are it wont put it up by a grand

If you can't afford to pay a grand to cover it you haven't really got any choice have you.

first off I would check the damage is actually a grand, get him to provide you with a receipt or a quote from a decent garage, that way youl get a better idea of what options you have

Doesn't really matter how much the damage is worth.
If he is at fault and doesn't want to go through the insurance theres not much he can say.

just go to a garage of his choice and your chioce... touch wood estimates should be nearly same.

If there well out get a independant engineer out to access the damage!

yer but at the end of the day u dont want to be forking out 400 more than the damage is worth, the reason I said this is because if we werent quick enough when I had a minor accident the person who I crashed into could have robbed us blind, your entitled to ring the garage of there choice and see what they say,and compare it to a garage of your choiceor as twiggy said indepent engineer

Your not entitled to anything.
If somebody hit me at fault and didn't want to go through insurance i'd be asking for whatever I had been quoted from a garage of my choice.
Its not up to the guy who hit me to decide.

exactly, what am saying is check for sure that its the right price from the garage,so your actually paying for the damage to the car and that the person isnt pocketing the money or making up figures for his own sake

If you can afford to not go through the insurance then don't. Do what's mentioned above.

I don't know anyone that's insurance has gone up a substantial amount because of a claim.
