Surely its all relative, i think they are really quick cos i have gone from a 1.2 8v to this. If you have driven faster cars it will feel slow.
It aint that slow with a book figure of 0-60 under 9 seconds! Especially from a car with group 9 insurance.
Is there a huge amount u can do to the engine to get a bit more from it?

Ive come from a 1.2 and still think its pretty poor
You can do both manifolds but its pricey

I'd be pretty interested to know coming from the people saying they are slow, what other car in the 12K range is better performance. I'm not talking secondhand Subarus, has to be a new car and 12k and under. No Clio 182's etc...
TBH the car is pretty nippy compared to 80% of the cars you see on the road.

And if someone can find a car around the same spec, speed, cruise control etc, for near to the same insurance group. Clio 182's are like insurance group 16?

Just got mine, 54 plate and really impressed with it, come up from a 1.7dti corsa, seem powerful enough for me, but then again what ever car you have you will always want more
Take a look in my garage, its standard at the moment, but just put a BMC carbon airbox induction kit on it which seems to have given it a bit of a growl and better throttle response when over 3k

Yeah my K+N filter did the same. It is open to the engine bay but has a good cold air feed.
I'm under no illusion it's the quickest car on the road but for a new car that you can purchase today it's pretty well spec'd for the price/performance.

I'm might go for something non-vaux then. Like an Ibiza Cupra or Civic Jordon. Wont be getting a new car til summer but just thot i would start looking. Any suggestions? Around 6K and not any higher insurance than group 15??
Doesn't seem that the corsa has that good performance for a 1.8 engine.

I find this aswell with mine. Had a 106 gti before and it felt miles quicker to 60 and after, when the difference in 0-60 on statistics is only 0.5. Only bought mine because it was a bargain, and insurance is good.

Thats because the 106 is made from tin and is mush louder and less refined. It's all in the head.
