Hiya guys

As some of you know i work with trucks/trailers cement distribution tankers

Yesterday one of our drivers was driving along a road. On that road a man was stood on the corner talking on his mobile phone.

The guy on his phone stepped out into the road without looking, and went straight under the truck. He died later that day in hospital.

So please please please, if you are using a mobile phone by a road be extra vigilant, and if you want to be really safe dont use one by a road in the first place.

Thanks

yes, it may sounds pretty stupid, but i have been talking on the phone and stepped into a road, only for a bus to swerve to avoid hitting me, i soiled myself very very much

I don't get it? How can you not have personal awareness that a massive 20 tonne truck is heading towards you?

Not a phone related incident but some old guy at Wigton got reversed over by a dustbin wagon which then drove forward over him again Obviously died.

How he didn't see the wagon I do not know

Honest to god ollie i dont know!

If you imagine the truck, you have the truck itself, which is then joined to the unit/trailer...

The guy actually stepped out between the truck and the trailer, so he went under the trailer. I dont know how this guy did it but he still managed to be so stupid.

Forget not hearing it how do you not see the lorry.

Though in these cases I always feel for the driver.

I was on the M40 going to Oxford this morning and some stupid blonde bitch was pretty much about 5 feet away from my rear bumper in her Mercedes Benz 4x4 type thingie on a mobile phone, in the fast lane!

If she was up your rear bumper in the fast lane you and any trafic in front of you were not going fast enough and should have moved back in.

Yeh Haimsey ... that is stupid

Witnesses said the guy didnt even look, carried on talking and just stepped out.

All i could think of, imagine that was your bf/gf/mum/dad etc and u were chatting to them on the phone, then u hear them get run over....

Driver should be returning next week, hes devastated but at the end of the day it was an accident completley beyond his control so i just hope he sees it like that and doesnt dwell on it too much

I slowed down to 60mph to piss her off!

She went in the middle lane and nearly clipped the car in front of her in that lane...

Bit harsh on the driver. Even if he was sticking to the speed limit, if some one steps out, what could he do

I hope the driver doesnt get charged with anything stupid

Nah hes fine, police checked his mobile and tachograph and he was well within speed limit and certainly wasnt on his phone!

Drivers a lovely guy, shame it happened to him. However he is a strong guy and im sure he will get over it.

Driver here many years ago knocked a woman over when she ran into road, again, nothing he could of done but he hasnt worked since!
