If you was using an auction site would you like the idea of receiving a text when a bid was placed on an item of yours, or if you sell an item, outbid etc etc (can select what options)
Would you think this is a good or bad idea ?

Bad idea
If u have 36 bids, u dont want 36 txt messages
a daily summary of how ur items were doing would be better

Good idea, but could cause problems beyond your control such as network probs etc.... I presume it's for UK flava?
But yeah it is a nice feature to have

i would prefer to have a text at 7/8/9pm with the current high bidder and how much its on, and the same for every day of the auction.
Maybe a facility where u txt the auction number to UKFlava when u want an update

Well sounds good like I said as it's a pain going in and out of auctions to see if you've been out bid.
But looking at it from your side, if say O2 fuck up and someone misses a text and are out bid you will be getting complaints etc...

good idea but as Ally says you have to tone it down a little. 1 'summary' text per item at the end of each day plus one just before the auction ends.

I personally think it needs more advertising. Why not just try spamming loads of forums? Or looking into banner exchange sites such as blankspace?

What about an option for updates at a certain time say 1 hour before the auction ends or whatever? Not sure how easy this would be to sort out but it would stop excessive updates.

And I agree with Ian.

it sounds daft but its true, it really is a shocking name for an auction site greg, can't you change it to something that doesn't sound so shandy?!

i already get it from ebay. they send an email to my hotmail, and I have set up hotmail to send me a text whenever it comes from an address cotaining the word 'ebay'. Then it sends the senders address, and the subject, so i know if it is item won, item outbid, etc
