Just reading this about the Astra VXR on parkers:

"A curious feature of the VXR's engine is the sound it makes which Vauxhall claims is the result of acoustic tuning. A fan-like roar can be heard from the exhaust when the engine is delivering maximum turbo boost (when its being driven hard). Some like it, some don't, but it's certainly distinctive."

Thought it was interesting. Anyone heard the VXR been driven hard?

Also thought it was a good opportunity to get another picture up of the beast

I want one in black, but like so many others can't afford one. Maybe in a year or two.

Seen only one on the road, was very nice, but i dont think the back looks right. Its too high. Also those wheels look a tad odd.

I find the Vectra VXR alot more exciting.

Also maybe im getting old and my lack of finance is poor/outdated.
But why the hell are cars like an astra £20,000 these days

A Corsa GSi back in the day was £12,000 brand new back in 93, so £18995 for a bog standard Astra VXR seems to be a bargain

SVM - shut it you

Vibs... are you referring to old or current R32? As current R32 retail price is £23k (admittedly chuck a few extra k's to get the correct options)

I wouldnt call it a bargain at all ollie. As that money like 6/8 years ago would have got you a fair spec BMW! Not that im trying to say a bmw is better or whatever, but you get what you pay for, and id feel robbed if i had to pay £20k for an astra OR a golf.

Yeah but look what 20grand gets you in the BMW range.... Erm sweet F.A!

Its called inflation and quality of manufacturing and car has improved. Look at a six year old astra compared to todays and realise the technologic advances in that time. THATs why we pay more now than then, and I bet you didnt get paid as much six years ago as you do now.
