mate i know this has probably come up on here a million times but...

would you not consider doing the conversion and simply not tell the insurance company? IF you are in an accident etc, would they actually measure the size of the block and head etc? I think not.

Totally up to you though, its a quesiton of morals...

yeah i know i am mate...

personally i would have to consider it a lot as whether to tell me insaurance (i dont even own a corsa now so no chance of a LET anyway)

you've got to think though, would they actually check the engine in the case of a total write off? How many people actually change their engines? On here a few people, in general pretty much no one.

Therefore, i think if you didnt change your insurance it would matter one bit, though certainly you are supposed to tell them yes.

------------------------------------

jst stop chattin sh1t mate, u think cops r stupid? or insurance investigator people? i had a red top sat in my unit one nite and had a few novas in there, police came in and pointed to the engine and said ' 2ltr red top eh?' and then pointed to the nova 'going in tht?'. the know exactly what engine is what.

and plus, why shud you get away with payin cheap insurance when others are paying thousands for being honest

edited cos he deleted reply

I know mate because a lot of people on here are very sensible,

but in all seriouness you've got to consider...when the insurance guy comes to evaluate a potential write off would the top priority be to measure the displacement of the cylinders?
OK, a LET is a bigger block etc, but would it even cross their mind to check if its not standard

I can see you are very irate at this, "L33 LEG" and quite rightly so because it is NOT right how some pay lots to insure their powerful cars, and I have the utmost respect for those individuals

Despite this you have got to ask yourself, how many times do the police look under the hood when you get pulled over and analyse the engine displacement?

As i said, we'll just leave it at this as this topic has been discussed numerous times.

well i must admit, the engineers looked at my car when it was wrote off, and didnt have a clue there was a non standard engine in there. maybe beacuse he couldnt lift the bonnet to have a look, but i had to tell them my car was worth alot more than they had valued it, and it was only when i siad its a 2.0 16v that they went back, had a look, "oh yea so it is" and they then changed the value of the car
but the 1st thing everyone has said to me, the engineers, claims people etc, they have all asked if the insurance know about the engine conversion because if they dont, the insurance will be void and wont pay out a penny.
