Right i need to get fit very quick indeed.
I know i can because i have done it in the past.

But i need to shift a bit of weight and do hard cardio.

Now i dont have access to a gym and i dont want to join one.

I hate running i cant stand it unless its for a cause
So im thinking swimming is a very good way of good decent cardio.

any other suggestions?

To be honest mate... I find the best form of exercise are pressups and sit-ups. I myself am a member of a gym (my own, LOL) and also can't stand running, sooo boring. Best bet is using a rower machine for cardio if you have access to one. Failing that and you want to get fit quick in your own home I strongly recommend starting out on 3 sets of 20 press-ups and 3 sets of 20 situps a night (depending upon your current level of fitness), every night. Takes a matter if minutes. And increase the exercises in terms of number of sets and number of reps in each set every week so that you really push yourself. Pressups are great a great exercise all round... cardio fitness, stamina building and strength increasing. The same goes for situps but they work the mid-section where as press-ups focus on the upper and lower body. You should load the exercises so that every set you struggle to push the last 5 or so reps out, that's when most gains take place. If you want some info on fitness and techniques, etc U2U me mate as am really into my fitness. Cheers and hope that helps.

Press ups also work the abdominal muscles, aslong as they are contracted. There is no point in doing lots of sit ups etc if your quite bulky around the stomach as you will develop strong abs but won't see them. Ideally if this is the situation drink lots of water per day (bout 1Gallon) as this promotes fat loss. Press ups is a memory muscle (I.E your brain can remember your current level) Start by doing 50 per night and each week build up over 10, so next week is 60 (assuming you can manage 50 ok). Also rememeber that you loose everything 3 times as quick as you gain it. - Reversibility

It is for a cause! to get fit. If your wanting to get fit for football than your best bet is to run since thats what you will be doing when playing footy. - Specificity

Oh i understand running is good - but i have two major issues with it.....

First everywhere where i live is "man made" no grass nothing - not good for joints.

Secondlly when im running the ball then i put top effort into it - but if im just running and running i get bored and annoyed. Wont work for me.

With regards to the comment "quick" I dont mean tomorrow - i have fitness trained before but i need to get in top form. I managed to get fit so quick in my younger years im sure my body is still cabable of it.

bwbw - Agreed mate. To be fair I do a hell of alot more press-ups than I do sit-ups. The way I do them means that really you work more or less every muscle in your body. Basically while positioned in the "up" stance of the press-up before you start the reps, tense up your whole body along the abs, back, legs, arse, etc and keep it tense until you finish the set of reps. By doing so as bwbw quite rightly said you will work muscle groups such as your back, arms, shoulders, abs, arse and even thighs.
I also agree with drinking alot of the old corporation pop (water). To be honest I have always drank alot of water, at least 6pints a day, and it does promote fat loss.
I do strongly recommend also getting a set of free weights and maybe a collapsible bench. You'd be suprsised at how many different exercises you can do with these and how many different muscle groups you can work out as long as you know the correct techniques. Alot of people associate free weights with weight lifters and ripping huge muscles (which is what I use them for, LOL). But remember this: -

more weight & less reps = muscle bulk
less weight & more reps = muscle tone

So... drink as much H2O a day... press-ups (get into a good, well-kept, routine of these)... free weights and bench for muscle toning exercises... sit-ups (ab-crunches) and if you tandem this with a well kept and balanced diet (fruit, water, protein, pasta, vege's, etc) then you'll be sorted.
But don't think that it's an overnight process. Keep it up and after a few weeks you'll notice a big difference. Don't just start and fall after the first hurdell by not seeing instantaneous gains.

Oh... and if you do smoke... try your best to give it up.
As well as changing your drinking habits if you drink Guiness... LOL. Apparently a pint of Guiness has the same amount of calories as a full Sunday Roast. IMAO!

Then again, beer (yeast) in general is very high in calories. But Guiness by far the worst. Best way is to turn the Russian way (Vodka). Also more amusing. lol.
