I think yes.

Was playing Football Manager yesterday, and was offering Fabregas a contract. In the game he is 20 now, was on £15k a week, offered him £25k and he rejected it, saying he felt he was deserving of a better basic salary.

His move to Valencia went through very quickly

If you look at the amount a top actor gets paid for a film, then no. The top footballers entertain crowds of 60,000 or so per match, sometimes 3 times a week, plus all the millions who are entertained through the TV

There will always be complete codgers and dossers making a mint for doing nothing in every type of job, just the players like Laurent Robert (!!) etc are an exaggerated example

But in reality of course they are overpaid

Its fucking obscene that someone can earn in a week what it takes me 4 years to earn before tax.

they have a skill you cannot learn, hence why they are paid so much. Plus with the popularity of it the money is there to pay them that!

this is the reason i hate footballers..

they get paid TONNES or money, then ask for more money otherwise they wont stay at a club etc etc..

where as firemen, doctors, police etc get paid peanuts...

what do footballers actually do ?? other that kick a fucking ball around.

thats crap though. somepeople are more inteligent than others but yet don't get paid as much. being paid 50k a week to play football is sickening. I barely earned more than that over 4 years of working.

I agree, being a footballer is not innate.

Thing is, what they earn could go up and up and up until they are earning millions a week so i agree with Edd, cap it at soming like £35k a week or around that figure, though i still think thats too much lol

Thats crap sorry, any one can leave the art of football but each individual has their own seperate way of developign their skills,

All footballers are over paid fairys FACT!!!! that put f**k all into charities & events like children in need etc..

Yet we have doctors, surgeons & paramedics that get paid peanuts to help help lifes & prevent many people from losing their lifes, i can't see why a footballer should be paid £10-20 million as year for kicking a piece of leather around a pitch while doctors & surgeons do a job thats worth more..

You can't cap their wages like that.
How would you feel if someone said you were only allowed to earn X amount, just cos they feel thats all your job is worth?!

The lower leagues have salary cap where the club is only allowed to spend a certain percentage of its income on wages.

They are talking about piloting it in the championship but have to bend the rules slightly

All they do is run around a football pitch for 90 minutes kicking a ball, entertaining certain amounts of people

But the amount they get paid is stupid!

I could do the same as them, but ovbiously not as good, and not get paied a penny, its pathetic!
