Ok people, here's your chance to be involved in some car design... Am currently working on an interior for a two seat, rotary engined mazda, got this far:

Now I'm trying to think of new ways to do old stuff, so alternative ways of activating indicators for example? Already have a bluetooth sequential gear shifter, but need some more outlandish ideas too...
Post your ideas, however wild, and I'll see what works.
Ash.

This is a great idea, They should have different noises on horns so that people know why the fuck you are honking at them.

a button each side of the steering wheel to activate the indicators. The interior looks abit like a old muscle car at the moment.

Little kick indicator buttons, at the side of the drivers well thing. one next to Accelerator one next to Clutch, depending on direction the driver just flicks his foot out

Retinal scan that tells when you use your mirrors and indicates if you have a proper look rather than glancing.

voice activated indicators? indicators with sensors on the side like the reverse ones that bleep if there is anything next to you (ie in your blind spot) once the indicators are activated.
The sensor one seems a very good idea to be fair.

Yeah, i was gonna say Voice Activated, could be annoying when you're explaining that someone is Correct "Yes, you're right" and it starts indicating. Or... "No, there's none left"
the eye sensor thing sounds good, and the beeping thing is a very good idea

but the buttons are good because its a change from the usual and tidies up the steering wheel area without getting into complicated technology. Everyone likes pressing buttons

not really a problem if you learned to substitute right and left for other words such as "you are correct" and "no, there are none available", etc.

Could have buttons like Gear change paddles that some fancy motor vehicles utilise Instead of indicator stalks

how about thinking of an alternative to a sterring wheel, that will change the aesthetics altogether! It is about time too, think how old a design it is.
I reckon it could be one of those things that you look back on in years to come, like when wagon wheels were massive memories.
