he basically was doing a u-turn in a road, checking making sure no cars where coming, as he was half way through doing it a clio came speeding round the corner and hit the back of him.
would this be 80 - 20 against my mate? and is this a write off do you think?

heres the clio (driven but some little imagrated prick) excuse my french

what is the big marking in the middle of the road?
Not to familiar with those sort of marking as dont really see them round here.... plus i last looked at the highway code 2million brain cells ago.
Still.... looks like a 30 road, and if the clio was going 30 he should have been able to stop
UNLESS he was right behind you and your mate did a handbrake U turn

The markings mean do not enter marked area unless it is safe to do so

this is what i thought, so the clio Must of been going quicker than 30mph, the road is a 30mph limit. theres speed cameras just down the road

the lines on the road are not brokenat either side of the hatched area in the middle, so i think that means you can't cross them. but on the other hand it looks like theres driveways at each side of the road, should of said he was reversing into one.

i can't remember the name of it, but if your coming from theamsmead, going up that really shitty hill towards bexleyheath, at the traffic lights up the top of the hill, take a left and its that road there.
there isn't any driveways though, just alot of grass before the houses

You're not allowed to enter that marking in the middle of the road so if he had to do so to turn then he has some blame. Depends if Clio party decides to make an issue of that though. This to me could also be as similar as if the Fiesta was stopped in the road facing any angle and the Clio hit him. Equivalent of running in to the back of a car which has stopped in from of you which of course is 99.9% always the fault of the car behind.

the problem was ian, he was doing the u-turn slowly, but when he saw the car he had to speed up otherwize the car would of gone straight into his drivers door and he would of been in alot more trouble

if thats the road he was doing a u turn in he may be in trouble, the chevrons in the middle??? you are not even ment to stop on them never mind do a u turn..But clio driver must have speeding if unable to stop.

you are not allowed to cross the chevrons, not even to turn right, unless it is in a specific part where you can pull into the middle.
