to do with moddifying a car. i dont know what it is, but over the last 4-5 months i have lost interest in modifying cars. The last 4 years i thought it was the best thing to do, but now think its a shear waste of money. my next car will be standard, with the exception of a few engine mods, as driving a tuned up car is fun.
just wondering has anyone else lost the interest as time goes on??

I felt the same as you about a year a go. All my money I got I spent on my corsa fitting kits, exhaust, suspension basically wasting money. I decided I wanted rid of it, so sold it and bought a completely standard clio 172.
Its so much better, I don't have to worry about going over bumps, being scared of braking my fibreglass kit.
I can just drive and have fun and not worry about it falling apart.

I realised what a waste of time it was when i had my corsa
I spent a load of money on the outside, then thought "fuck spending £1000 doin interior when i'll get fuck all back!"
Plus it's high maintenance with all the tacky fibreglass!
Also, the scene is definately associated with chav's these days.
Why not just spend the money gettin a car you like, rather than buyin a shit one to make it better

Ive gone right off them, they looks cheap and tacky half of them and ya never get your money back for them, but the ones that are nicely modified do look nice but its not my cup of tea, just plain and simple if the way forward i think

my cars 200 miles away from me and I lost interest in it - the second time some1 backed into it and cracked the bumper - fact is if it was standard it wouldnt have done any damage at all!! its parked on my drive against the hedge and looks uncared for; completely given up on it - might tart it up after christmas to sell it - but not spending any more than I need to

plus it embarrassing sayin you drive a "modified corsa" at 22 - when mates of mine have Impreza turbos, x type jags, S3's and RX8's - then I have a mighty 1.2 corsa woooh
fact is if I hadnt spent the ££££s Ive spent on it I could have bought something half decent as standard, run it and had money in the bank still - not had a student loan and bought the new trials bike I need
I blame it all on Jaffa

Never really had interest in after market kits to start with, would still spend on tuning though.

I've lost interest in paying people to do stuff for me. I like having projects and trying stuff out myself though...

totally lost interest in the whole scene to be honest, no longer do cruises, car shows or modified cars interest me I now drive a standard BMW, full leather interior, electrics etc etc and I love it
No potholes to bounce off as a result of shite lowering springs, no frequent trips to the garage to get the fucker fixed, no bills fo this or that, I could go on and on
I have no problems with minted standard cars e.g. Evo's or p1's but no more modifying for me

I am no longer really interested in the scene. I used to be all into going to shows like Max Power and getting featured in magazines. But there is more to it than that now. I would prefer going to a show like PVS and impressing myself a how well the car has come out, rather than getting invited to a show like Max Live and impressing some spotty kid with a loud exhaust and massive front bumper.

Done the big kit & wheels thing & sold it in 2001. Since then i've had a tuned Punto GT which I loved, a Skyline & a FRST. All of which have been near standard on the outside.
Have a C SXi now which I run about in & about a month ago brought a project 2.0 GSi which I plan to build up & restore over the next few years.
Wouldn't say i've lost interest in cars, but more the fact I can't stand the little dicks you find at cruises doing hand brake turns on McDonalds trays
