hey

I havnt slept all night i and i have just decided to start my coursework for the maths unit of my course. My brain is not working and i need sum help with the real piss easy ones!

ne1 feeling intellegant?? to b honest they r GCSE level but i am confusing myself no ends

Heres how to do it mate. Bit early for all this isnt at?

x/1+x = 22

X=22(1+X)

X=22+22X

-21X=22

21X=-22

X=-22/21

X=-1.047619047619047619047619047619

You take the 22x (right hand side) across to the left hand side.

Simply its the left minus the right so : 1x - 22x = -21x

how do i prove that log(1)=0

and

log(x)-log=log(x/y)

i just know that they r that just dont know how to prove

Well first one is simply the fact that anything to the power 0 equals 1 (10^0 = 1).

Second one say x = e^log(x), and y = e^log(y), then:

x/y = e^log(x) / e^log(y)

The two indices can be subtracted as you were dividing...

x/y = e^(log(x) - log(y))

Take logs of both sides and...

log(x/y) = log(x) - log (y)

yes anything to the power of 0 = 1. they put this in exams to try and trick us. i think they put one time 1,324,567^0 = ? and people were coming up with rediculous answers. i remember another question, and our maths teacher told us one of the boys answerd it like this:

-10^0= "cold"

Jesus H Christ, this is why I got an E in maths.

I'm good at what I would call normal maths, times table, add subtract, divide by, but all this rubbish you lot are talking about

It does get used in the real world though -- but mainly if you're in engineering or sciences...

now if any of u r really up for a challenge

A vertical tower 0A casts a shadow 0B on level ground when the sum is elevated above the horizon at an angle @=15'. Then @=6' the shadow is at 0C, where 0C is longer by 19m than 0B. Find the heinght h of tower and lenghts of 0B and 0C (You may assume that points 0,A,B,C all lie in one vertical plane. Hint first draw a diagram.

i dont have a clue, i am confusing myself drawing the diagram
