heres the deal;

i want a new car

nothing older then p reg
nothing running silly power or crap mpg
nothing more then insurance gp14 (ish)
nothing more then 7000 quid (or 9000 if i REALLY like it)
nothing i will loose silly money on or has just been replaced with a new model
something that is nice to drive
something that wont stand out too much
something i can slap some nice rims and deck it and leave it
something a bit different
doesnt have to be 100% practical, as ill be using it for work only 1 day a week

test drove so far:

seat leaon cupra r - thought it was nice, nothing special, bit boring to look at, ok to drive, expensive to run/insure

golf gt dti 115 6 speed - ok to drive, nice solid car, 1000s about, always easy to sell a golf

bmw convertible 320 - amazing finish, nice to drive, might cost more to maintain but hold value better then the above two, everyone loves a drop top

pug 306 convertible - not test drove yet, cheap, 2.0 engine is ok, many in my town

astra sri - will look at soon

clio 172 - doubt ill look at one, not big enough and i dont think i want a hot hatch

mini - nice, hold value well, bit girly tho as my lass likes them too much too

corsa c - not really into them as i want something different, had 3 or 4 of them now (all B's) and i will only end up spending money on a nice kit etc

probably be worth about twenty pence in a few years too
the depreciation on alfas is mad but it means you can get bargain just dont take trade in into account when you come to sell it

The a3 turbo starts spooling at 2K so it is really smooth but quick at the same time if you want it to be
