me...

Generally it's a rumour about no one takes their car / don't take a car - to stop other's from taking their car.

Unless of course there is no where at all to put it

I took mine, and even though people say you don't need it - it comes in very handy with shopping, trips to say pool club, trips further a field, general lazy ness, driving home, etc etc...

If i moved away to uni i doubt i would take a car. You spend 75% pissed or stonned and it's genrally parked in high risk areas. Even if you get a house in a nice area, people know that it's a student house so it's highly likely it will get done over at some point and your keys may be the ones found.

I've always parked my cars in the middle of the student part of Plymouth. By the halls, next to the house etc. I've never had a problem, other than a kebab being left on my bonnet .
Shut up pugnut, you just live in a scabby area.

On that same note - I've had my car broken into 2 time's at uni

my mate's also

however, after the first - you kinda get used to it... keep your car empty, i.e. leave glove box etc open to show nothing worth nicking.

Thing is - for Car People... a Car is more than just a tool for going from A to B. I love my car, I love driving it and without it I'd feel like I'm lacking something.

A lot of people who go to uni, see a car as nothing more than a thing to drive to the shops in once a week and therefore would just leave it at home.

i couldnt trust leaving mine in the street.
Its garaged every night at home started and driven weekly, plus i have 3 mates in my house with cars!

Also the fact of 2 seats and 2 mates will have to still drive if we go anywhere

<RANT>I wish to say... if you take your car to uni you will be added on to the list of tossers that take their cars to uni made by the residents of the local area...

Everyone in Leeds uni has a bloody car this year, adds about 2 hours each way on to my journey time to work and back just cos the lazy tossers can't be arsed to walk a hundred yards to do fuck all at uni all day, when the real tax payer can't get to work!!!</RANT>

Yes I really wish I could "do fcuk all at uni all day, when the real tax payer can't get to work". When I leave university, I'll probably be paying more taxes than you, I'll have about 13k of debt to clear too, so don't go bleating about how hard done by you are, just because you didn't stick around in education.

I'm a student because I want a better job at the end of the day. And it really gets to me when someone posts stereotypical shite like that - you've been watching too much of "The Young Ones". Maybe if more people went through higher education this country wouldn't have such a problem with chavvy idiots who have nothing better to do than drink on street corners and break the bottles on peoples driveways.

FFS.

I have a car at uni, I stay more than a hundred yards away. I also pay tax.
I hate tossers at uni that don't go there holding me back.
