What are people's opinions on Astra Coupe's?

I test drove a 1.8 Bertone Coupe today. It was really nice and I quite liked it. I'm going back tomorrow with the parents to get a second opinion on it.

They are top cars mate. I'd recommend one. My dad had the 1.8 bertone coupe, he now drives a 1.8 Linea Rossa convertible. They look good standard and are very nice to drive.

Good car and there's enough of them about to get a choice on colour and seats. Don't buy the first one that you see!

Not as many up here Ian. A few silver 2.2's and one Turbo on Autotrader. And one or two 1.8's (which for insurance purposes is the only one I can honestly aim for.)

The one I'm looking at is a black 51 reg.

Great car -- looks so much classier than the normal Astra hatches...

I don't regret getting one... still brings a grin to my face when I drive it.

I'll get a quote on a 2.2 then Ian. Be a pretty big jump from my 1.2 Corsa tho!

I had a 2.2 for about 3 months. Got about 30mpg on optimax and 28mpg on normal UL. Wouldn't want that with Fuel prices these days.

Also, it was a heap of junk. Got shot of it sharpish once I realised. Lost a fair few quid but better to cut the loses. It's someone else's problem now. I drive up to 500 miles a week so needed reliability.

Now have a Corsa 1.4 SXi A/C (05 plate) which does about 45 mpg which is a lot better and under warrenty which means a fair bit to me.

Coupe was nice though and when it drove well it was good fun. Handled really well. 2.2 not really that fast though. Looking back I wish I'd waited for a turbo.

FWIW my renewal came through when I still had the Astra Coupe. Fully Comp £286 quid

i like them alot ! , want a 2.0 litre astra next, (despite a 6k insurance quote :lol but the coupe's seem to be nearer 10 k to buy whereas the hatchback models are more like 2-5k ?? does that sound about right ?

some one on mig has just brought an Sri T hatch for £7500 so you should get a turbo coupe for £6000 - £6500 if you are prepared to travel about.

You get a lot of car for your money and the build quailty is fantastic on them.

Coupes can be had for as little as 5k these days. I think they started making them in 2000 so some are 5 years old.

not bad, i prefer the coupes, look great imo, and i personally think astras are really quick so its definitely gunna be my next car ! hatchbacks seem to be alot cheaper tho - theres a really nice black one on ebay at the mo, around 2k with 3 or 4 days to go - black 18" wheels etc - really nice, high mileage i think tho
