Juts bought some AVO Coilovers off Macca SXi. Cheers mate they are spot on, wouldn't hesitiate to buy from you again!
Anyway got round to getting them on today, think I'll probably buy some different springs for them of a higher poundage as our roads round here are just crap.
On our way home toinght and feels a major clunk like I've run over a mountain, but there is nothing in the road ROFL.
Struggled to stop from 20mph and steering was a no go!
Quick check and though fuck it I'll get it home, not far, just got round the corner then the steering totally gave up, as did braking. Luckily not going quick again.
Quick investigation shows a broken TIE BAR!
My mate who was with us knows his beans about vauxhalls as he said hes never known one snap. Suppose thats what you get for shoving 300bhp through things designed for 60bhp....
So lucky that we the car wasn't tramming along when it decided to shit itself as me and my passengers could very well be dead now
So all you decent power LET owners go and check yours, they could go at anytime!

Thats pretty major!! Tie bar is solid bar of steel, must take a HELL of a lot to break one. I had a tie bar bush break a while ago at 40mph with similar scarry results!
Tim, make sure you've not bent the wishbone or cracked/bent the wishbone chassis mounting as its VERY easy to do this once tie bar is not, well, tieing. I got away with it in my case but only because I braked VERY gently and did not drive the car once it had gone.
Was yours suffering from bad rot, im really struggling to see how you broke a good one, even with emense power - as the tie bar is very strong indeed. Would have thought you'd bust the bottom ball joints before busting that.
Anyhow well dont you hardcore nutter

I got it recovered back to my mates house who looks after the car, he will give it the full check over.....
It only broke its last set of bottom ball joints not long ago.... hmmm...
The car has been up in the air and had a lot of work done in the last 2 weeks, so if serious rot was setting in, it would of got spotted?? Also just had its MOT.
Anyway it will get checked over today and I'll let you all know the damage!

tie bar i would have thought would not have caused a problem as i have removed my one for handling improvement. is it not track rod end's or something that has snapped. I am just a little confused

You removed your tie bars for handling reasons
You sure you don't mean your anti-roll bar?

I broke the tie bar on my 1.2 8v, however it did involve a fence, a bmw, and some bumpy ground...

It's the solid steel bar in the background with the blue tape on it...

Must have taken a knock, or been jacked on or something, they don't just snap unless they're weakened.
