It's so easy to swing your quote £50 either way by running the quote again, or changing job description to one of the other 'close' descriptions.
It's pretty frustrating though when you get a low quote, then come back to buy (didn't save) and it's gone up £50 and you have to spent 30 mins running the quotes again to get it back down

Privilige (sp) seem to be able to beat every quote im getting at the minute.
Difference between them and my highest premium was £1900!

I saved 150 by changing lynnes job discription when the renewal came through last year. chumps. always run the quote through the web when you get your renewal as it's likely to be cheaper lol

When I got my first year's insurance on mine, there was a massive difference between lowest quote (£700) and highest quote (£2400), makes you wonder how they can be so different...
Hasn't come down much since then (£535 with 4 years protected no-claims), although I have moved from a B rated post-code to an F* rated postcode......I guess that doesn't help!

My £2400 quote was Royal Sun Alliance, and they couldn't believe that I'd got a quote under £2000......in fact, pretty sure they made a comment about "cowboy insurance companies"!

Howcome car insurance companies want to know what you do for a job?

Cause if your in a high stress level job you're more likely to have an accident so then will want to increase the premium as they believe your more likely to crash.

Ok cheers, I thought it must have been something like that. Thats why they want to know if your single, married or co-habiting. How do they find out if you lie about either your job or your marital status?
Not that I am thinking of doing it!

how gay. I cant see why a company doesnt come along and reduces premiums loads - they would get loads of customers and cash in

Don't really think they could, they may ask for proof like they do with milage. To be honest I'm not 100% sure.

They are all money grabbers, mine quoted me £750 on renewal, got a quote of £675 elsewhere so told them I could get it cheaper and then they did it for £550. Obviously plenty of room to manouvre (sp) on price

Yeah I got quoted bout 100 more than I was paying for my premium for my renewal. So I took out new quote and got it for 400 cheaper.

what happens when your first year ends and you dont want to renew with that company. Do you get a certificate for the no claims or something?

Sometimes you'll get one, you have a right of proof for your NCB. Just phone them and ask for proof, on the renewal quote you get it should say "No Claims Bonus: You have X No Claims Bonus"

Yeah you ask them to send you proof of bonus. Then your new company will ask for it once you take out the policy
