225 bhp 1.8T 20v Turbo Audi TT engined Mk1 Golf GTi Genuine Campaign with EW chassis, alpine white, 12 month MOT, owned last 5 years, VW Motoring magazine featured, very standard looking (street sleeper), excellent driver, £1000`s spent over that time, fitted with low mileage 225bhp engine with K04 turbo, etc, Haltech engine management, massive brand new front mounted intercooler (was very expensive & bigger than a rallyes!) 02A gearbox conversion with hydraulic clutch, poly mounts, poly bushes throughout, new top adjustable weitech suspension, massive Neuspeed anti-rollbars, 256mm brake conversion with Zimmerman discs and pagid fast road pads, custom 2.5" stainless downpipe heatwrapped, full stainless exhaust with single round tailpipe, snap off momo steering wheel, sabelt harnesses (or seatbelts if you want), black leather interior, cd player, Pirelli P`s with Pirelli centre caps, very standard looking, much admired and very quick, 14.00 second 1/4 mile at Santa Pod last week with mild setup - will easily achieve a time in the 12`s with a remap (i use it daily so haven`t got for anything too extreme) £7000

Theres a MK1 down the road from me that looks identical to that, same colour, same wheels. Standard Gti though....i think.

its missing the red trim around the grill no doubt some hippy ripped the grill off for the badge sometime in the 90's!otherwise awesome!

It's derived from the term 'street sleeper' which is meant to infer sleepy and lazy visual qualities in an otherwise mental case car.

I believe the term is a play on the name street sweeper also, and originated in magazines like Fast Lane in the early '80s or possibly earlier
