anyone get to a point in their lives and sit down and consider where they're going in life? Ever thought about it and realised it's about time you did something about it?

I was like this last night. Was lying in bed and thinking that due to recent events it's time I grabbed life by the balls and started things moving. Especially on purchasing some kind of property to live in with my girlfriend.

I'm 22 and still live at home with the parents. Some might think this is sad, I blame it on the fact that house prices are too high where I live. I've had a look at renting but never really made any sort of move, that's going to change now.

Was thinking of selling the car to clear the 2k odd of debts I have. This would free up about £400 of my monthly expenditure (plus another £100 I give to parents a month) so i'd have £500 extra to play around with for rent and bills etc....

Would sell the car for about 5.5k. Get something a little quicker ( ) for about 3.5k, sure it can be done. Start looking for a place and then move out sometime before christmas. Tall order but I've gotta stop messing about and get off my ass. Just got promoted at work so now on about 18k which should make things a little easier.

What do people think?

go for it if you really want to, you only live once, or you could wait a bit longer, build u[ a deposit and get a mortgage together with you and your gf, but then how secure is your relationship?

been together almost a year, we're really good together and I'd like to see what living together is like.

would probably rent at first, if we end up almost killing each other we haven't got any commitments then have we.

22 and your worried about moving out? Whats the rush for crying out loud?

You want to live and spend money before getting into the biggest amount of debt possible.

I don't wish to move out for at least another 5 years

TNM, why do you keep bringing that up you sad retard Nothing happened, get over it

Ollie, I can't stand my parents any longer, just seems like they're always on my back and I just want to escape it all and start leading a bit more of an independant life.

I've spent enough cash on holidays and cars now to be honest, want to come home to a nice house after work and see what i've earned for my money

YOUR MAD

When I want to move out I will get Rachel up the duff, quit my job, claim my parents are alcholics and get a council house and pay £2.50 a week for it

Saying that makes me sick, how could anyone do that? Do people not have any kind of pride?

Dirty.

this is what I'm talking about mate, can't stand people who just pump out the kids and then claim all that money, really makes me mad to be honest.

I can get a faster car for 3500 as well a bloody tesco shopping trolley would be faster than my car!

Clear your debts, start saving your money and work your fucking arse off.

I dont like hand outs, and I feel proud as fuck when I do the above and know that object x y z is in my hands cause I worked my bum off.

Property is a hard thing to get into, you need alot of capital to start that shit.

Willay suggests.

Clear your debts
Find a suitable partner
Make money, travel, enjoy life.
Settle.

Do whatever you can to be happy, maybe make a list and set yourself targets? Write down what you have to do to accomplish x and so forth.

Do what you want, I don't think people on here can add alot more other than maybe yeah it's better to rent that buy first (especially at the minute) although deposit money may be wasted gdoing this it's probably worth it to see how compatible you and your girl really are.

don't roll your eyes at me, I never accused you of anything did I...

I won't need a hefty deposit for renting will I? Maybe 2 months rent or something like that?

Biggest expenditure I can see is furnishing the place

Agree with Willay, we bought a brand new 2 bed house off our own back with very small help from parents (ie a bit of inheritance moeny to help with deposi etc) and so proud we did it by oursleves, now her brother and two of our friends have moved into big house (our friends into brand new house an her bro into a massive but skanky house) all with massive hep from parents, we are always pleased that everything we have we worked for

Yes Robbo

Theres no greater feeling, than saving up your own money that you've worked hard for, and using it to get a house

Me and Richie are moving out of his parents house in November, with the money we have saved, together. That really makes me feel good

Our OWN place

My advice is stay at home as long as you can then you get to enjoy your money and have a laugh whilst you are young.

Having your own home is all well and good but it eats into your money especially if you buy an old property which is likely for a first time buyer, maintenance can kill your money.
