Used to work full time in Halfords for 21months, enjoyed, just money was crap. Parts ordering, stock monitoring, fitting stereos etc. to cars and generally making sure the paperwork side of things in our department ran smoothly. I had to leave as the money was so poor.
Been doing car sales now for almost 14months and its so boring, often finding myself with nothing to do and generally dont enjoy it Also the hours/weekends I have to work Im thinking about starting at college in September, doing a part time course in basic car body repair just to find out if its something which would interest me as a career.
Any one else find theyre getting like this at work?

Yeah, but this college course is like, one evening a week, so would do it after work, still work full time like, but use that just to see if it interests me.

Definately! I have been stuck in an office for 3 and a half years now and I hate it. Money is good though and they keep giving me payrises but I'm at that stage where I've had enough now.
I'm really thinking of leaving and either going to college in September or starting an apprenticeship but that means selling my car

Have been like that ever since I started working
Im just facing facts that work is shit and it will be for the next 42 years unless I win the Lotto.
I was at Halfords after Uni for 6months doing exactly the same as you and I enjoyed that a lot more than 'real work' but the wage was shit as you say. I almost went for a Store Manager job but cant be arsed working weekends.
At least with my job at the minute I can live for the weekends - 2 days of utter freedom. Followed by 5 days of boredom, tiredness and drinking meths to ease the pain lol
Fuk it - Im in a rut and need to do something about it. Cant take risks though because of mortgage and shit like that. Workis gay - I wanna be a student again
The end

Ive got to that stage now though, where I wake up in the mornings and think, I really dont wanna go in today. I've not got a mortgage yet and wont have for quite a while I dont think.
Not many people ACTUALLY think as soon as they wake up, oh crap, another day of it. I dont think thats the way it should be either. Lotsa people here seem to enjoy what they do, occasionally are annoyed, but its actually getting me down now.

I did car sales for 3 months and felt exactly the same. It was during a real quiet period and it was boiling hot every day.
Just couldnt be arsed with it - hated it with a passion. Never again

Honestly I could not think of a more forfilling job than working at Halfords, but that would mean a massive pay cut and would'nt be able to have my luxury 2 holidays a year.

No Willay, SEAT. Cars are alright, people are alright, just im not doing stuff a lot of the time. Theres a few people I need to follow up, but I know theyre just messers and not actually gonna buy anything, only need to follow them up to keep them upstairs happy.
I dont know if something like some kind of installation engineer or something might be a bit more me. Running cables, finding faults, repairing them etc. stuff like that. I enjoy taking stuff apart and putting it back together.
Also, to me, whatever I choose as a career, I dont think can entail working weekends as this year Ive not managed to play a single game of cricket, when I was at school I was really good and playing 4 matches a week and generally find myself these days with not an awful lot of time to myself.

tbh mate, you need to deicide whether to work for money or work for enjoyment, as the two never really seem to mix - ie: im studying to become a studio engineer (Work in recording studios etc) will be great, but the money will serious suck butt (20-30k tops)....whereas my old man and bro are both in IT, earning 40-50k+ but neither of them like the job.....

IMO, 20-30k isnt all that bad if you enjoy the job, and 40-50k i could live with i suppose, but thats not gonna happen in car sales.
