do all insurance companies give you a 1 yrs NCB if u got it thru an accelerator scheme? im thinking bout going for it because they work out £200 cheaper than a 12 mnth, but i dnt want to find out that by the end no1 will accept it as a yrs NCB.

also are admiral any good? they are cheapest by about £1000
but mods aint covered if your involved in an accident

I did it with a 6 month acelerator scheme - btu that was nearly 5 years ago now!! - I basically got 18 months for less than the price of 12 that way - and the following renewal was ridiculously cheap

Quite a few companies don't accept 10month policies as a years no claims. However, the majority don't ask if all your NCB were on 12 month policies.

I had to stay with the same company to take advantage of the accelerator - but when I moved to Liverpool Victoria - I only had to proove I had 2 years NCD - which wasnt hard as It said on my renewal quote from Providence - 2 years - they never asked if it was an accelerator policy

I had a 6 month accelerator policy with Thames Valley Insurance and I got a 1 years NCB, so I assume your poilcy will give you a 1 Yrs NCB.

Why don't you phone up the company and ask?

Not all companies will accept it as a full years no claims and I've managed to get 8 years no claims in only 3 years of driving and Adrian Flux accepted it lol

cause onece youve got the 1 years accelerator ncd, u stay with them for a further year - when u finsih that year - u get to 2 years NCD - then you leave and find another insurer -when they ask for proof of your no claims discount - u give them the renewal notice/quote from your current insurers

with the acceleartor - I'm not sure you'll be able to transfer the 1 years NCD across

hence why I said stay with them for a further 12 months - at teh end of this - u'll have proof of entitlement to 2 years NCD in the renewal notice

then you can swop companies

how I did it

I bought a new clio as my first car and got free insurance for a year, then I stayed with them the next year. I sold the clio and got the SRI corsa but Renualt insurance who I was with, was still the cheapest quote for the corsa so I stayed with them for the third year. After that they gave me 8 years no claims and when I phoned up to enquire about it they told me some of the years had a bonus scheme. I did not even know this .

So my 4th year quote with them was shit for the corsa so I left for adrian flux. At first they told me they would not accept this as I had only been driving three years. So I sent off my documents and paid the insurance as normal. I was happy with the quote anyway. A few days later I had noticed that AF had recredited me £96 and when I phoned up and equired , I was told this was because I had 8 years no claims instead of the mentioned 3 I had told them about. I then explained to AF that they had told me this would not be accepted. She went off and asked her manager and he said I could keep the refund and they would accept the 8 years no claims as genuine . So next year they'll send me no claims proof of 9 years and I'll be taking that elsewhere
