Keep my car?

I am seriously considering getting rid of it later this year early next year. I absolouterly love it. But i need to get rid of some of my debts and have been thinking of buying a car with RWD or 4WD. As FWD is just toss if u want to go fast, especially in a corsa

Ive been considering an Evo, M3, or just buy a decent cally turbo and go mental on the engine.

I had a race wit ha seat leon Cupra R, he had a better start as i was off boost. To cut a long story short. I won. But by a WHISKER. It may sound silly or childish but i want to go faster I have never been happier having a powerfull car.

Considered going down the phase 2 route, but for that id need to get a new gearbox and i reckon thats going to all in set me back £1500. Which may not seem much to some, but i cant help thinking im just pooring money down the drain now. As that could go towards a new car.

Any thoughts? Or suggestions on to what to move to next?

Any replies welcome (even funny ones )

If you want something powerful then anything apart from front wheel drive will do the trick!

Cally turbo is a bit old now and I reckon it could be a bit of a headache! M3 (E36) is shocking, worst car ive ever had but each to their own I guess! Evo's are mega but unless its an 8 its likely to be an import so insurance and servicing can be a bit of a nightmare!

How much are you looking to spend?

Depends if YOU want a change. I've slowly admitted to myself over the past 2 years that it's time to sell the Astra and replace it with either a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo or a Camaro Z28.....sometimes it's nice to have a change.

FWD can be good cars

Corrado is/was one of the best FWD cars

althought i would like RWD, but don't see me actually drifting/oversteer etc

RWD isnt just to drift/oversteer, its about geometry and physics. Big power in front wheel drive cars is all wrong! Yeah, it does work to a certain degree and the handling of a FWD is generally very predicatable.

I would never have another front wheel drive performance car!

I think if you sell it after all the time you have ploughed into it, you will regret it.

i just think in everyday driving and normal circumstances, most people wouldn't notice it that much

isn't really top of my list when looking for a car

but i agree with you, so do BMW

Sell the Corsa. But if you're looking to clear your debts, you're looking at the wrong kind of cars..

Sell up and buy an Evo, you probably wont regret it, there are better things to drive than a corsa and youll only end up wasting your money on it.

For a day to day car front wheel drive is spot on, cheap to fix, not as much to go wrong, predictable handling etc etc but trying to get the power down in a powerful front wheel drive is a nightmare whether it be out of a bend or launching!

I dont mind spending a couple of hundred quid.

But £300 for an F28 £100 for FWD fitting kit, £200 odd fitting its silly money!!

RWD+4wd is all about the physics etc as said by stu, u just CANNOT drive even remotely fast in mine if a splash of rain should hit the floor. its a floored desgin that works to a certain extent! I have reached IMO the limit or thereabouts with FWD and driveability. So therefore i want something that can plough a few hundred horses to the floor with ease without complaining about it.

Im unsure on budget, id like an Evo 5 or maybe an audi S3. A p1 would be ace but i think a little too much, i think ill have a max of £12k to spend.

Clearing my debt will yes be replaced wit ha car debt, but thats one payment on a car, not 4 credit cards! (intrest mounts up!)

Plus a tadge of refinement would be nice, i miss my air con as sitting in traffic in mine just gives me a headache!

I wish i could be arsed to afford soem more exhaust mods to make it queiter as im sure i will love it some more.

I would be sad to sell it, but to do it to my ultimate spec is wasted money IMO.

I know cally's are older stu but at least they are cheap! As im considering going travelling next year so might want something cheap to tide me over .

.

is some great FWD cars out there, i don't think u can say u reached the limit of FWD cars, you just have a very unengineered contraption.

boffins spend a lot of time in setting cars up to handle/drive well, not just a case of slap some koni's on etc

FWD has it's limit's after chasis design and suspension weight dist the max is 250bhp is (reckon'd by saad anyway )

If I were you i'd buy something good cheap fun rwd if you're going away soonish anyway, but if you do go 4wd you would be suprised at how quick the uk subaru's are off launch with just a few mods and they are good looking, handling and nice sounding cars

3CM, its well known and documented that 220-250bhp is the most u should really put tthru the front wheels.

Im running anywhere around 205-215 its very driveable. It has alot of torque steer, but in most cases it HELPs it corner. Im not doubting there are amazing FWd cars out there. I think mines pretty fucking cool, its running bilstein suspension also. Im not complaining about the handling on my car its great foer what it is IMO.

But as i said, 200odd horses and FWD is the limit. I want to go faster therefore need something RWD or prefferably 4WD. Hence my choices fo S3 and cally turbo

Is an s3 gonna be faster than yours though?

Cally turbo also has shit transfer boxes you'll end up spending a fortune.

Thats pretty good then, fairly low miles and only 3k. If you do decide to sell you should get your money back
What on going costs do you keep getting?
