If someone was saying to you look at this spec... and it reads like this:

EP motorsport stage 5 T3 roller bearing turbo
T3 gt tuning actuator
group A dump valve
low comp pistons and liners
large oil feed turbo pipe
large machined turbo elbow
k-tec racing four branch tubular exhuast manifold
large down pipe
ram air air filter with trumpit
EP motorsport stage 5 head,polished ported,large valves,valve seats
re-machined/cut with muli angles,uprated valve springs and stem seals
inlet manifold matched to head+ uprated inlet manifold gasket
group A head gasket and uprated head bolts
EP motorsport stage 5 camshaft
gt tuning group A carb
gt tuning group A fuel pump
gt tuning adjustable crank sensor
uprated plug leads and racing spark plugs
twin core alloy intercooler
front mounted alloy intercooler
gas flowed lobster
spider valve to way boost control
incar boost switch
alloy boost hoses from front bumper to engine
uprated engine mounts
racing clutch
full samco hoses
cooper core rad+low temp fan switch
polished alloy header tank,heat sheild,breather tank,water expansion
tank,brake fluid cover,rocker cover,and rad cover

So I sent him an email saying

"makes me laugh all this group A that and stage this, what makes a group A dumpvalve group A for example" And why is the turbo stage 5?"

to which he replies

"Well it basically means that stage 5 products are the best for
performance increase whereas a stage 3 would create an increase but just
not as much or be able to take as much power through it"

to which i explained its just a name companies/people use, and got this back....

"I still think your wrong about the stage 5 thing mate.
Whats the difference between a stage 5 say and a phase 3 or 3.5! same
thng just different way of writing it"



I know he hasnt got a clue, you know he hasnt got a clue.. but I want to explain to him, in the most friendly and explanitory way... why the stage 5 and group A are just names that companies give for their products...

isn't a t3 a small turbo anyway so can't see how it could be stage 5, it's a stage 2/3 on 200sx's !

T3 is a big fooker mate (for an R5)... used as a replacement on RST's etc.

When you say stage 2/3 on 200sx's.. can I safely say that stage 3 is just a name used to generalise a list of modifications.

Ie. stage one would be, FMIC, more boost and a re-map (just an example)

well its only gonna be on a GTTurbo.. so any bigger turbo on that lil 1.4 would make it piss itself more than normal

Group A / N does actually mean somthing, FIA regultions for parts used in that particualr group..

for example i have a 'Group A' frount mounted intercooler on my calibra, which basically means it conforms to the regualtions set by the FIA for Group A racing..

as for stage, its basically the 5 stage of what a particualr company does for that component.
your right tho, a bb performance stage 5 just means that its the 5th variation on modifications and wont be similar in any wy shape or form to say a stage 5 head from a different company

well the T3 would be pretty big for a 1.4 yea, but in general the T3 is fairly small only good for around 300-320hp

300-320 bhp in a GTT would eat anything

t25 is from the 200sx s13's as standard and can be picked up v cheap on the forums etc.. good for 250-270bhp i believe and not much lag get a metal headgasket and u won't blow the gasket

if done correctly u can run a safe enough 200bhp (so i'm told)

i know iv seen then i cant see how people think they look nice with al them bits glued on nevermind get in max power

i'm just gonna get it resprayed, lowered, nice wheels, tints and a nice new exhaust system

Dunno wether u've seen the interior of them, comfy but err it shows its age. Needs work, buckets i reckon for starters

it does show its ages but there a nice car, what ur doing sounds nice really does dont think its wise to go ver a 15" wheel on the R5GGT is it?

wasn't planning on anyway mate. the car is really small, any bigger would look daft anyway.
