hmm, im assuming you have quite a few swirl marks by now? I would switch over to a cotton wash pad, it sorta picks up dirt rather than drag it across the surface and scratch the paintwork

I supose wax is thicker and has to applied evenly and would be quite hard to take off but will leave a greater shine than polish.
Surfers use Carnauba Wax dont they? If the layers aere built up its hard to get off.

scratch X has to be worked in on small areas at a time (6"x6"), and to get the full effect by hand it has to be done about 4 times. I havent had much luck with the stuff so far, i think it will be a good idea to invest in a rotary buffer.

also started to notice the tech wax polish is leaving paintwork patchy but i think its because i havnt been buffing it off enough (mainly on doors, hardest to see when in the garage) someone suggested washing it nxt time with cheap washing up liquid first to strip and existing polish etc from the paint but dont make a habit of it

to be honest, if it gets too bad, i recommend getting the car mopped, it gets rid of all swirl marks, etc. You can then start from scratch so to speak and perfect your car detailing.
