Just depends when you feel its right, tell her parents to back off & you'll get married when it suits you not them

What's the point in getting married?

You'll only get bored after a while and have affairs then eventually get a divorce!

I've been with my girlfriend for 2 1/2 years now. Marriage scares me and I'd want to at least live with her first!

anytime really, however we would have to be living together, with a nice house and good jobs, so could be a year - 5 years

I dont think its the time that you've been with them that determines when/if you should get married its about when it feels right for both of you

Precisely how I feel. I've just bought a house with her - thats a big enough step. If I can live in the same house as her then it should be okay.

Been with her for 5 years

Marriage is an unneccesary cost and commitment.

tbh, i feel that marriage isn't as big as it once was - the only thing it offers is security for the women, ie: she gets your cash etc if you split up

I would maybe offer engagement - it still offers her a ring she can flash around, and then see how it goes.
Like everyone else says, no need to rush, you should do it in your own time...like you say mate, you've just got a house, which is plenty big enough of a step

Marriage isnt always something that everyone wants to do, plenty of couples go through life living together and have kids but just dont marry as they dont see a piece of paper will change anything
Some couples are together for years and then just drift apart or dont marry till they are in their 40s
If its not right for you at the time then dont get forced into it

My budget just about stretches to an Elizabeth Duke sovereign at the minute.

She's not too arsed about tying the knot yet which is the good thing

My ex's parents kept pressurising me, eventually I made the mum cry I told her to fcuk off and that it pisses me off how they interfere

That relationship went down hill from there

I wish they would ban divorces, only for extreeme cases.

years ago it was too costly to get divorced, nowadays people get divorced all the time.

If divorce was made harder then more people would consider working on martial issues instead of just getting divorced

Getting married is a mahoosive commitment and means a hell of alot of work, you have to be 100% before you walk down the isle

god i dont half go on
