me dad had just bought one and i tryed to get insurance on one as classic car so no claims dont count so that means cheep insurance but u gotta be over 25!

really nice car tho and i think its pretty quick not actually been out in it with dad driving car, the engine is izzu so good for 150k+ miles easy!

i think if u are wanting a car like mazda mx5 or bmw z3 or summit and just wanna bit bit different and not go with the trend u cant go wrong with the elan!

my dad got his with 46k miles on clock for 5k i think! good condition, no worries bout rust creaming throught also which is nice thought!!!

they made few late on in the 90`s cos when bugatti bought lotus they found 2000 or summit engines thay didnt know about so thought they wud make some more to use them up.....tipical lotus!

just like on the excel they made a bigger engined one the SE and it kept blowing engines at top end so they put a bigger spiler on it to increase the drag so it was not as fast so didint rev so high and blow engine up in top gear - lol

I remember racing an Elan in the Corsa up the A414 one sunny afternoon, i was not impressed at all, i couldnt get near it really, but i wasnt falling behind much at all up to 100

Verdict: Slow for a Lotus

With those stats you could chase it in most half decent cars

Seems quite poor for a lotus imo
