They Call it Litre 8 Australias Fastest and Most Powerful Road Going Torana SLR 5000... they Owner has changed the name to Torana SLR 8000 as the number indicate the CC's to the nearest thousand

here's some details

Litre8 started out as a new 1976 Torana SLR 5000 (308ci V8). Over the years it has run a 330hp 308 ci V8, 550hp 202ci turbo 6 and, since 1990, a 479ci BB aluminium Chev (Versions I and II). It is best classified as a toy that I occasionally exercise on asphalt road-racing circuits. I also still do the occasional car show.

The block is a Keith Black Big Block Chevrolet replica (4.5" bore), Crower 4340 forged steel crank (3.76" stroke)and Crower 4340 forged steel rods, JE forged pistons (12.2:1), heavily modified Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminium heads (2.3"/1.92" intake/exhaust), custom 2.125" x 36" primary pipes converging into 4" collectors that feed dual 3" exhausts (with siamesed style crossover), .728"/.716" Crower Roller cam, Crower Roller Lifters, Keith Black Gear Drive, Comp Cams one piece stud girdle, Crower Rev kit, Kinsler cross-ram independent runner manifold with sequential port injection, Motec M48 engine management, dry sumped. It runs on a steady diet of 110+ Avgas. It has been dynoed at 727hp at 6500rpm and 695ft lb at 5150rpm. It also has a fully plumbed and operational 200hp NOS direct port nitrous system. This is really an aesthetic only add-on for the Kinsler manifold, the car is pretty exciting to drive under full throttle already!

This car is 29 years old and still has the Original Owner!!

Cars 30 years old Tom it's not meant to appeal to the Youth of today

I personally Love the looks of the the car but then again I was brought up round these beasts! I thought the original 5.0 308ci V8 engines were fast with a set of TB's on them but thats just taking the piss

I should also mention i have a video of it Somewhere ripping the Arse out of Mark Skaifes FULL RACE SPEC Holden Commodore from the V8 Supercars the Commodore pushes out around 600bhp and weigh nearly half a tonne less

the torque he must have out of that now. I'd love one, and would choose one over alot of 'modern looking' cars nowadays!

the Scoop you mean?? GM Holden put that there as standard on All SLR's It's so the Air filter can be fitted The engine wouldn't fit without that bulge

MY Uncles Was Standard apart from the Full Factory L34 Kit on it (which Litre 8 has aswell) this kit does not include the bonnet though

it has the Scoop aswell (pictures of my Uncles are 13-14 years old so excuse the poor quality pics

Uncles White 350 Chev is in there, along with Bretts Black 350 Chev, bretts doesnt have a scoop and neither does my uncles but Bretts has a Shaker popping out the bonnet, my uncle had to have his ENGINE lowered so it wouldn't pop through the bonnet the Engine mounts were basically lowered from original position so he could keep the original bonnet (he sold the SLR for this car as he thought this was faster he was right )
