any opinions, cant really afford the insurance on a gti so this is my other option seen a few round the 4,500 mark is this a reasonable price?

these ar the 1.4 8v yes? they go not to bad gf has a paxo furio same engine quite suprising, However i would prefer a rallye

look decent but are v under powered. Tbh you'll allways want a GTi so might aswell pay the extra on the insurance, just buy a cheaper Gti

they're not that bad.

Edd: I had a saxo and its the same car from the same factory. Nice cars, good ride and handle well for a cheap hatch. Better than a corsa 
Expect bits to fall off but apart from that nice car and stick the leather seats out of a GTi in it and your sorted.

What u should do is test drive both and see whether its worth paying more on insurance.
I have never driven either but from what i've heard the gti is pretty damn good
