the obvious-

uneven tyre wear

filler in the bodywork - take a magnet

any welding should be easy to spot...

look for wear on the steering wheel, pedals, handbrake and sills - does this match to the miles on the clock

you want to make sure the engine is cold before you start... check for leaks and rattles... mayo under filler cap

they are the obvious ones... you can be as thourough as you like!

listen for rattle from engine - could meen oil is too thin / needs changing / noisy tappets

let it heat up, make sure the coolant res cap doesnt loose pressure

start the car up & listen to the back seats, you SHOULDNT be able to hear anything (like a high-pitch whine, etc) mine is getting worse

check clearance between all panels, should all be equal..

does the car have a factory fitteed alarm?? do a quick test of it (leave the window down, lock the car WITH deadlocks, wait 20 seconds, then put your hand through the open window & try start the car WITHOUT unlocking the door) the alarm should go off (mine does!)

Color of Coolant / condition of oil

Condition of radiator top-hose & any other hoses you can find (squeeze them)

rust under the bonnet, on the slam-panel, front chassis legs & lower crossmember, under the front of the bumper beneath the cross-member...

there is much more, but probs not worth going into!

Badges are in the wrong place - has it had a boot lid?

Nearside arch also is unclipped.

Lift the boot carpet and have a nose.

Depends on the quality of the repair work, it might still be more vulnerable to rust. Its not the end of the world but it will cost you some time and possibly money putting the badges on where they should be.
