was on my way to gfs house an car started making a creaking nosie wen under acclearation and started losing power, pulled over and it cut out, wen i started it it was onli running on 2 pots, had a compression test and 3 n 4 are dead...

any ideas?

dunno just got back from being recovered, will hav a look tomorrow night after werk.. am thinking belt has slipped

yeh i think you will find your timing belt has jumped some cogs,
at the least it will need timing setting up and new belt, at the worst you may have bent 8 valves and damaged 3 and 4 pistons

i might hav a head sorted hopefully... how much damage to pistons cud there be?

sometime you get away with it sometime you dont, can damage more than just piston, big ends little end, bend the rod, etc depends on the impact and this sort of damage is pretty unusual prob looking at £100 for GM belt kit no idea on headgasket if head needs changed

oh and ment to say real bad luck mate if it does turn out to be the belt i konw how it feels.

is there any way off telling if the piston, big ends little end are fuk'd with out stripping it down?

first check to see if there is any impact damage to the top of pistons. what engine is it anyway?

ok update - just had a look at timing and it appears to hav slipped a tooth, also trhe creaking noise i mentioned appears to be air popping back out the air filter

nah, i bought the engine from stoney and got the lexmaul of robmorriot (sp) on here, which he bought it off joff its been around tht lexmaul
