'Crashed' on way into work this morning, roads were awful..
Turning in off main road into side street - it's sort of a bend rather than a 90degree junction, was doing about 5mph and as i came half way around the bend, car started sliding sideways. Tried braking, tried turning, etc, but once i'd started sliding i just couldn't stop it..
Smashed the front bumper and bent the front 'nearside suspension wishbone' or so i've been told. Wheel could possibly be buckled too.
I'm hoping that the bumper can be bonded back together as there's just a couple of small pieces broken off at the bottom and then resprayed, otherwise i'll be needing a new bumper and spoiler.. (Looking at couple of hundred quid to repair this i reckon although it'll not be getting repaired immediately)..
Wishbone definately needs to be replaced and once this is done they can see if there's any knock on effects - it was such a minor impact that i'm hoping this will cure it but i'm doubting it.. (Recovery bloke has estimated £200 parts + labour with possibility of needing more parts and subsequently more labour once it's been properly assessed)..
Wheel could possibly be buckled too.. (Providing i can get just 1 wheel on it's own plus a new tyre, possibly looking at about £150, otherwise i'll need a whole new set of wheels)..
Looking at atleast £700 to get sorted which is gutting as the only visual indication of an accident is the couple of broken bits missing from front spoiler..
Can't afford to go through insurance as i need my no claims bonus to remain in tact and i've got a £600 excess anyway..
Car is undriveable in current state, so it's getting recovered from my work back to a garage at home this afternoon. £60 straight away for the recovery..
I've got AA roadside and relay cover but as it was accident damage they are wanting £105 to recover it for me.
I'll try and get pic's later..

The crash itself was very minor, but the damage it has done is going to be very costly..
But the car will (eventually) be restored to the way it was yesterday..

Yea, it was just the weight that pulled me across and into the kerb. Bend goes left, but i slid across and hit kerb on the right.. I was moving so slowly around this bend as i could see the ice on the road.. Grr!

No. It would take me over 2 hours to get there on bus. Whereas it takes 20 mins in the car which is both more comfortable and convenient. I also often require my car for work purposes..

Cars at the garage now and i forgot to take pics before it went in..
But it's only getting the suspension etc fixed at the min so that it's driveable again so i'll get pics of the damage to the bumper when i get it back.
Couple of little pieces missing out of the Reiger splitter and a few cracks. I think it's borderline whether it can be repaired or not.. If it's not repairable i'll be buying a new one exactly the same though cos i love it.

Back from the garage today.
Cost £125 for new wishbone and there doesn't appear to have been any knock on effects so hopefully the mechanical side is all sorted - but only time will tell. Well chuffed with that price too!
Wheel doesn't seem to be buckled either, but is quite badly kerbed.. Bit of a result there aswell though! (If you could still get me a price for 1 new one though Mav i might consider buying a replacement anyway and using my kerbed wheel as a spare..)
Not such good news on the bodywork though.. Only been quoted by one place for it so will shop around first. Prices i've had so far though are:
£750 + vat + painting + fitting for new bumper and splitter together
£350 + vat + painting + fitting for new splitter
£200 + vat to bond/fill/spray/repair the current one
I think these prices are a bit silly and i don't think i'll be getting it repaired there..
Will try and get some pics of damage tomorrow as it's pissing down at the min..

The hubs bent from looking at the pics
125 quid for a wishbone? Ring a motor factors and they'll get one for about 30 quid.

The garage did check the tracking and camber etc but they said i need to watch it carefully for the next few weeks because they couldn't get the car up on the ramps to fully test it as the car is too low..
Took it out late last night when roads were quiet to get a bit of speed up and test it properly and all seems fine..
The hub's not bent, it's the way that i parked to simulate the way that it looked before it was repaired..
I thought £125 was quite cheap considering Vauxhall quoted me £150 + vat for the part alone before fitting costs..
But i'm happy anyway. Atleast i know it's been done properly and was done immediately by the garage (dropped car off at garage at 3pm on Wednesday and had it back by 1pm on Thursday)..
