Was gonna say have you checked it against gps? The way the tyres expand at higher speeds is why speedo's go inacurate - though they usually have a slight inaccuracy built in standard.
I've got a road angel 2 which tells me my gps speed - and my speedo is about 3 mph out when say under 70 - but at about 130 its about 5 mph under (125 while clocks show 130)
A guy on here called Sly_Sri, has cat back sebring exhaust system, with 1.6 16v on Dbilas Inlet manifold and that shifts pretty well! Has kept not too far behind me when I had 132 mph on the clock and Accelerates only slightly slower than my 106 gti.

yeh it's a bit gutting aint it adam
but at the end of the day - most people compare their top speeds by what they've seen on the clock?
So it's all relative.

Use pure nitrogen to fill tyres up, zero moisture and almost zero deformation at high speed.
