a fantastic idea.

I think that every English side should be made to play at LEAST four English players in every domestic game, never mind having four in a 25-man squad

Uefa then wants six homegrown players by 2007 and eight in 2008.

Of the eight, at least four must be trained by the club's own academy and the rest in the home country.

Uefa defines a club-trained player as one who has been registered for a minimum of three seasons with the club between the age of 15 and 21.

Of the 32 sides in last season's Champions League, five clubs would have not had enough homegrown players.

They are: Arsenal, Chelsea, Celtic, Rangers and Ajax.

Can't see how they will do this a eupuroan players have as much right to work in the UK as english ones,

Due to EU employment laws, one of the bigger clubs will take it to court and UFEA will have to reverse it as it will be deemed illegal.

Thats not the point. The point is to encourage youth development and as this ruling applies solely to one competition the case wouldnt even get as far as court.

Oh dear how sad. It's not like it won't suit Arsenal what with Robbo naming all the homegrown players above.

David Dein might as well be French anyway

this is a tough one because they are technically not actually stopping anyone from working at a particular team.

they could make a rule change. 21plays to a squad but your allowed 25 if you have 4 uk players in it. easy to get round

Yes as they can easily rotate players and players can still be registered for EVERY other competition bar UEFA's.

I can't see why anyone would complain about this. David Dein is a cock.

speaking as a rangers fan i think this rule should apply.this season(domestically) rangers have consistently had enough youth players in the squad.so i cant see why it would be a problem in europe.
