Walking into work yesteday and one of the bosses bought an L reg FTO in black, looked lowered on lovely 17-18" alloys it was quite dusk and looked lovely. Seen photos of them on the net and wasnt all that fussed but seeing it with my own eyes have changed my mind on these cars. Whats the performance figures like? Insurance? Realiablity? Alot of servicing like lancer evos?
Jaffa has one on here doesnt he?
Opinions ?

my insurance is less than 1k but that might becasue of the tracker and cat1 alarm..........
scoobies were being priced up at 2k insurance for me
performance no where near scooby evo etc territory but they aren't slow!
relability - serviced well these will go well over 100k
Servicing is cheaper than evos etc
mine is for sale too, reluctant to let it go tho

lol @skippy feel free mate
for the cash there is no car out there that ha all round looks reliability and power that they have,,
the powers good but its torque that the fto wins against cars in the same league
dont listen to what silly little boys say about 0-60 times and peak power outputs as the ftos torque and gearing beats most cars hands down on the real road,,take 1 to a track day however and a type r will beat it,,take them to quarter miles and the run pretty poor 15s,,,,,stick 1 on a real road and watch em fly,, oh and the standard 60-100 speeds are faster than a wrx scooby,,
just make sure you get a gpx,,as the rest are just kidding on lol
and if you plan on modding it dont bother as the power pretty much stops at 220bhp unless you want to spend loadsa cash and go turbo power
and real gps top speed for a standard 4speed tip gpx is 157mph,,with the 5speed tips geared for 180 but iv never heard of a standard one doing it lol

integras it destroys, scoobys it beats only the seats in a scoobys are lush,,supras are kinda funky,rx7 is 2 crampt for any1 at the 6 ft mark,mr2 is seriously out of date
interior is luvly.............
well i think so

They are OK i was goin to buy one last year but bought a Veccy V6 coz it felt quicker! lol They look well nice though i'd possibly buy one in the future as speed isn't really top of my list anymore So if your lookin for a car to race then i'd look elsewhere but if you wanna pose i reckon they are better than Scoobies etc

Please provide 60-100 times for an FTO GPX Manual and WRX Impreza Turbo.

Nice cars but mostly auto's and unless you get a GPX not very quick.
As the GPX is the only model with the Mivec engine

The GPX is resonably quick yeah, the Tiptronic is slow IMO to change through the gears and brakes are useless as standard, most the owners will get uprated ones due to warping of the discs and lack of stopping power

tws not posted by a girlie was posted by a bloke logged in as a girl,,,oerrr and i cant believe some1 with a megane said they were slow imo lol that had me in stitches
cant find figures anymore but they were posted up somewhere just cant remember where :s managed to find some1 else who also thought this though so guess he read same thread as me maybe on the owners club somewhere but i honestly cant remember which forum it was,,,anyway heres some1 elses statment and maybe a bit of a good buyers guide ,,il try find it after work though
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am on my 2nd one now and love them....I know there are faster cars but they look lovely and get many admiring glances - always cool when a guy in a ferarri or 911 looks to see what the car is And you can smile in the knowledge your car was literally 10x cheaper! Plus it's good beating Audi TT and most BM's (not M series tho!)....
The FTO can also hold it's own with most scoobs in the higher end (well a manual GPX anyway) as it's 60-100 is quicker than a WRX....not that I would try occifer
---------------------------end quote
and heres the site it came from,,btw the guy crail loser giving his opinion is the bloke who owns the GARAGE,,prob scotlands best tuner
http://www.strathycruise.com/frameset.htm
and i spose i may be wrong,,but taking in gear changes and the fact the gpx hits 112 in 3rd you never know
brakes are really bad on them like jason says but mitsubishis own figures for tip gear changes and the manual gpx changes proved the figures to be faster,,sadly not every1 can drive like mitsu test drivers lol

bugger i done it again,,,dam women loged on to my pc tsk tsk
this is the real me and i am no longer in a dress
and i thought id go get get this as it may explain a bit!
Repeat after me. "It is better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm, because you can take advantage of *gearing*." :-)
Now for the technically minded, you'll know that the FTO has quite a high torque peak as can be seen from the graphs below;

Graph stolen from ftoc where it was stolen from Dave Wilsons site where it was stolen from Richard Jenkins' site
This is quite a lot higher than many "normal" road cars. This is why you're FTO might not feel fast, but is fast. In reality what this means is that you're far more likely to be driving at a faster speed than you think you're doing because it doesn't feel so fast getting there. You don't get that "kick-in-the-back" that you do from a turbo charged car, but then it also makes the FTO an easier car to drive because you have good torque across the rev range.
look at the lovely smooth lines aint that pretty
