It might be because the Astra is black but is that just a base model with some nice slightly larger wheels?

Say to yourself 'turbocharged 200bhp car on 18" wheels' then look at the pic - something is wrong!

Yeah, but look at the new Golf GTi, apart from the 17"s and air dam it looks like the rest of the range.

^^^ yeah just what i was thinking, are you sure those figues are right as when my dad was looking at 1 of those cars the 2.0l Sri turbo was 160-170bhp and 0-60 in around 8 secs, was reading something like autocar or evo mag round my mates which said the vxr astra will be around 240bhp

yes them figures are right or even slower the Astra H weights alot more than the G, hence the performance drop, the previous Astra SRI TURBO / GSI / COUPE TURBO hits 60 in around 7 seconds.

Infact tha Astra H 2.0T 197bhp hits 60 in 8.3-8.5 about the same as my Astra 1.8 SRI.

Astra Gsi had the same engine and did 60 in 7.5 seconds. That most likely weighed loads less than the new one too.

I personally quite like the look of it though, its pretty discrete, but it still looks nice. Admittedly though the Colour doesnt do it justice, but it still looks pretty standard.

Way i see it this is only the SRi. there's still most likely a GSi and the VXR versions to come, so i expect better things from them .

Yet again Vauxhall have started to ruin their top marques by tarting up the base models up to such an extent, there's no-where left to go for the high end stuff!

FeSTer might be the one to go for and more comparable to the Clio 182 than the Astra Tubs. Lets hope the stripes are optional Can't understand why people choose graphics from the dealers - I mean, what's with all the Mini's with a chess board on the roof??

Dunno.. was the Focus RS that successful? It'd be a smaller market for the Fester RS - people with that much income would normally go for a slightly larger hatch or a 2+2 coupe.

As long as the ST isn't as stupid as the Focus ST170

Ford seem to be making good chassis these days, That fiestas got a lot of potential. The zetec-s Would have been great with an extra 30bhp.
