If you drive into the back of someone in any circumstances it's your fault.

What about if someone pulls out in front of you where there is no room to do so, causing you to plough into the back of them?

You claim off the guy behind, who in turn claims off the guy at the back.

To be sure, consult your own insurer. Its certainly not your fault.

a good reason to carry a camera in the car but it would be the fault of the guy at back. he shoudl be giving enough room to react to an emergency stop

I bought a camera especially for the glove box, only time it may leave the car is if there is an incident and I need to develop the photo's.

If you go through your insurer, yes. If you make a third party claim against the guy behind you, possibly not.

actually if it was an animal that you stopped for then it could be blamed on you as it is illegal to stop for animals apart from dogs!

No leni, you're legally obligated to report incidents with dogs and some other things like horses IIRC, its in the back of the highway code, and you don't have to for smaller stuff.

You are allowed to stop, slow down and manouvre around obsticles in the road without people randomly crashing in to you.

Actually its any animal that is regarded as vermin that you cannot stop or make unusual menouevres. IE, a cat, fox, squirrel, deer are all under this title ( some because of roadkill rules). Other such as a dogs, badgers, all things from a zoo, certain birds require you to stop and possibly avoid as long as you are not engdangering other road users. Its complicated.

true but aren't you ment to only stop for animals if it is safe to do so, i.e. no ones behind is gonna crash into you?
