They will only pay out the average rate for a car of that year/miles, if it's below that I'm sure you can try haggle. Do you still owe the finance company money then or did ya pay it off at the time?

Did you not get some kind of insurance protection on your finance where if it is stolen and the insurance pay out for the depreciated cost, then it will be written off/found another way? i thought the majority came with this kind of thing on?

simple answer is to ring up the insurance company and find out what they done. then ring the finance company and ask them to explain
no point get worked up about it till you find out all the details

I think he bought it for 6.5k and had it stolen, ins company only offered 5k, so he has to pay balance to finance inc interest. thats the way i understood it.
Does anyone know where there are any online translators for the members that are from scotland?

your gonna end up having to pay them,or getting taken to court, they're not gonna give a flying f*ck how much your insurence payed out,u will have to pay them the rest of the money off,its harsh but you do owe it them, however much interest they've charged you

I'm inclined not to have much sympathy if this is the case.
Regardless, unless the difference in equity is covered using gap insurance then the car may be worth less than you owe. Thats just maths and will have been explained in policy documentation.
Was the car less than 1 year old?

If you didn't have gap insurance, you're pretty much screwed.

My financial help would be to check how much insurance is going to give you for your car, and how much finance is left oweing before you get someone to pinch it
