ive been at work for 3 years now, but had a review the other day and this made me laugh
out of a possible 127 weeks of work ive been off for 52
but they classed my maternity leave as an absence
in my comments section my boss put
" disciplinary action will be taken if any more AWOL occurs"
then she asked me to cover 2 shifts so im workin a whole week and she loves me again now

mine loves me cos i tend to cover shifts a lot for her, whereas no one else will lol!
i got my payrise too, i cant have any more now tho cos im at the top of my scale
cant progress onto next pay grade cos they aint training any community auxilliaries and the shifts are too inconvenient for me

good luck getting into the police with 17 weeks worth of depression on your medical records. Im pretty sure your application will fall flat on its face as soon as their medical officers see that.

Sarah, take no notice. Large employers take all kinds of people with all kinds of problems now. It's part of their Equal Opportunities policies.

Shelly this is the police we are talking about, unless you are an enthic minority you wont get in that way. Dont know on the force sarah is applying for but last year about 400 something people applied for norfolk constabulary and like 18 got in. So as an employer with hundreds of applicants would you employ someone who had taken 17 weeks of work due to depression this year? I know its not a nice thing to have, i know people who have suffered from it, but theres also a sh1t load of people who take advantage and use it to skive work for as long as possible.
