Right, as I'm getting married next year I need to save a bit of money here and there. So I've decided to sell the Cup and buy something thats a bit cheaper to run and insure. I quite fancy the Lupo GTi, but don't know much about them, do any of you lot know anything about them and how do you rate them.
I'm looking to spend around 8k. What else would you recommend in that price range?

Lupo sport TDI
same interiour as the gti
cheaper
handles as well
as fast as the gti
i had the choice of both and i went for the sport, granted the gti looks nicer, but if yoru comparing them back to back the sport wins it IMO
dont like the 6 speed box in the gti either
mattb also works for vw and has driven the gti and im sure wasnt that impressed buy it

to £10 it does 180 miles and that with me not being partically gentle driving it
if you stuck it in 5th all the time, and dont drive it like i do with the turbo boosting up all the time i reckon 200 is easily achiavble
book mpg is 79

Parkers says the 1.4 lupo sport tdi does 0-60 in 11.9. The 1.6 gti does it in 8 seconds.

Everywhere ive looked gives the same figures...but ive still heard off a number of people that the tdi sport is just as fast.
Would be interesting to find out why people are sayin this?

if yu drive a tdi and a gti back to back the tdi feels alot quicker
granted when i tested them i wasnt on a motorway, so the tdi feels quicker as it was a stop start jorney, so the turbo was on boost alot of the time
but ask lee mitchell and halfpint how quick it was when i overtook them on the way to southend,
