one of the best handling cars i have driven other than the smart roadster. pretty quick but not amazingly fast. interior is boring as fook. and the std zaust isnt very loud.

tbh, mate the lower end models arnt all that And like mist said, interior is terrible...theres nothing in there and boot space...well your limited Personally, if you get a lower end model your just paying for the badge and thats it...and i would rather have a vx220 instead for the price of a elise, because its cheaper and just as quicker

just reading the stats thingy above,

Vehicle
Year
BHP
0-30
0-60
0-100
1/4 Time
1/4 Speed

Lotus Elise 1996 118 n/a 5.5 17.4 14.4 n/a

they don't seem that fast top end at all, but 0-60 isn't bad. at the end of the day, i'm more tempted by handling now. vx220 is alright, but i sat in one and can't see myself driving one for a long time.

aye, nothing wrong with the elise's, but if you cant see yourself sitting in 220 then your gonna have problems with a elise...the insides is totally bare, plus it gets fooking freezing during cold days even with the heater Handling is great and the pack abit of a punch....but thats about it and for the price, even 2nd hand...there abit of a rip off, especially if you wish to use it everyday If i was to get one, it would be for summer and track days...but i would rather have a westfield with 2 'busa engines that would shift my arse 0-60 in 3.2 secs that cost less than a 3rd of that of a elise

overall mate, i just dont think there worth the cash its costs, and majority of people that buy one do it for the badge....enough said thats why i suggested the 220, because its almost the same but on the upside, its alot cheaper than a elise and offers similar performance figures

best way though would be to test drive a few elise's and see what you think and/or rent one out for a few days and see how you get on

haven't had a go in one yet so test drive is a must. wouldn't be buying one yet, but just curious to whether they can be used everyday.

[/quoti know three people with elise's and only one uses it everyday for work etc and he travels about 40-60miles a day in the thing and he says it isnt the best thing in the world and told me that if it had some decent seats and the interior was alot better then it would be a decent car to drive around in

like i said mate, nice cars to drive but dont offer the comfort needed to make use of it as an everyday car...its almost a kitcar, especially since it offeres about same amount of carrying/boot space - ie: a passenger seat and and a few inches under the hood
But get your hands and one and drive it about and see if you can hire one for a week etc and see if fits your needs, especially if you dont have use of another car for doing very long journeys or boot space etc

build quality is terrible on them and they always have problems and stuff going wrong on them. and they develop plenty of leaks too

expensive to run and service etc

but they are damn fast due to being so light and they handle fantatsically out of the box

To be honest I wouldnt want any of these cars for an everyday car. The elise is fun on track but gutless over 60, handling is excellent as has already been said. If your thinking of one for an everyday car I wouldn't bother - not very comfortable, tricky to get in and out of and very very basic inside. And I expect an Elise would spank the Astra, 0-100 time is 17.9 which is still pretty quick!
