Me and another great mind have decided that the best way to advertise my company is to take part in a massive motoring event.
So I have decide on atempting to enter the gumball rally 2005
Good to purchase a base car withing the next month and then start work on it as soon as I get it, then each week updates and progress on the car will be posted on the company website along with fully spec sheets and race details when it happens
Firstly any ideas on a base car
And if anyone is interested in sponsership please let me know

The car you choose has got to be different, thats what the entry regulations state... The more mad your car is, the more likely you are to be accepted... So I reckon a modified Jap beast with a seroius engine under the hood would get you in

escort, bmw, focus....
you gonna either need something fooking fast for the gumball or something that is kinda fast but looks stunning Eitherway, plenty of £££ will have to be put into it ontop of your 8k entrance fee.....its abit of an expensive way to advertise, especially since its only going out to a limited amount of people.
For that type of cash being spent, you could get billboards done or TV advertising, or decent newspaper advertising
Although the gumball is a life time experience, and you will only do it once But if the only reason your enterying is to advertise then its abit pointless, plus if you have a nasty crash, then you have lost lots and lots of cash.
But good luck though mate

And you got to tune the engine to GT soec rather than Drag spec, so a 1000bhp supra wouldn't really be that good, it would probably break under the conditions of the competition

that isnt true, otherwise all the stanard bmw's and ferrari etc wouldnt be in the race, and tbh, there not that special. However, if your using it as a method of advertising then yes, the car will have to be something special and memorable(sp?)

I was reading the rules and things, and as they get so many people entering they have to choose which cars they want in the race. So if you entered with a normal looking car you would probably be turned down over a real sexy sports car. Its not the rules, kinda phrased it wrong, but you get what I mean...

at this rate, it would be better to buy a escort cossie from martin and the boys at reyland and drive that about...main reason for that would be all of the Priceless photos while you blitz a lambo or rarri
tbh mate, like i said you need to weigh up the odds and costs....i mean, i cant see you getting much change from 20-30k after you have built the thing, got it tuned and added something special to the thing (for advertising purposes). And with that type of cash, you could do aorund two months worth of advertising on TV or advertise in a nation magazine/newspaper, which offer a bigger audience range than the gumball

aye, if i entered my corsa i cant see it getting in some how However, they usually go for the wealthy tits in their lambos, rarri's and thing else that costs more than 90k or people who have a big F-off fast car thats kicking out silly amounts of power, like the reyland escort etc (only reason it got in i think).

no, but you target the advertising at certain target audience ie: wacking the TV ad on Men & Motors would do alot better than inbetween corrie etc Plus, gumball isnt that well known....and most people who known about it dont look at it for advertising purposes etc etc Im just stating that, even though the gumball will be a laugh, it will cost alot to get into with a decent car and even then it will cost you an arm and a leg for petrol, boarder control. And if you have a crash, and you total the car, then you come away with nothing...which is a big lost, espeically to a company starting out. Thats why im suggesting other methods of advertising that would, personally, benefit the new company better, plus would work out cheaper (always good).

Its more fun that having an add on telly
Think of all the pictures and claims I can have, wanting to take the company into motorsport so this would be a platform in a way,
