Right i'm looking to build a kit car and i've got two engine choices either the 1.6 or the 2.0ltr engine out of vauxhalls what do you think ?

The chassis with out the engine weighs 57kgs!!!!

Where is the engine being mounted? If you can keep close to 50/50 weight then I'd just stick with the more power per pound 20XE...

Sorry the engine is mounted around the centre of the chasssis



Rear wheel drive also loads of fun

Yeah -- once you've got all the running gear for RWD it should handle pretty well with the XE... What's 40kg odd between friends...

Yeah they do, just that they weigh double the weight of this chassis. What do you think for a racing slag should be amusing

One of my mates building the other chassis here Ste's Kitcar builder Site and he's using a c20xe in that with throttle bodies

Ahhh right

No its comes pre assembled i think if not its just a case of having huge forearms to do all the riveting it all comes in kit form everything is supplied apart from the engine and a few other bits have a look at the site

Thought about a 4*4 actually the only problem is that the engine is behind the front wheels which is an absolute pain in the arse

right mate, if you look in my garage you will see pics of my dads kit car that he built and he is now starting to build a dax rush with a honda civic type r K20A engine in on tb's!
If you want to get optimum set up choose a good chasis such as stuart taylor or better as robin hood are poorly made.

Then choose a lightweight engine x16xe on tb's would be good but cost more than a c20xe. The try and offest that from the driver to the passenger side of the car for a weight balance.
use a sierra type 9 gearbox and fit a close ratio box.

My dads uses a raw engineering toyota corolla on twin dellerto carbs and packs about 180 bhp now. Still does 70 in second and 0-60 in under 4 secs. They supply everything for the toyota and its so reliable its unreal.

We done some track days last year and higer powered cars such as dax rush with cossie engines etc were fast down the straights but in the twisty stuff and out of corners we were miles ahead.
The toyota engine is so driveable and the omex ignition ensures its always got the power there when needed.
