I worked on the new dealership round here.

Salesman came out with a quality bit of bull when asked about reliabilty.

On a realistic note, they are top notch.

Back in 1999, my mates mum bought a Octavia (1.8 sporty thing). Since then, its done 80k miles of stop-start round town women driving, and its perfect. 2 teenagers learnt to drive and passed in it, and its been ragged to bits by them too. Its soooo comfortable and well built its untrue.

I loved it the day they got it, and went in it for the first time in 3 years yesterday, and its still absolutey mint.

I would love a new Fabia TDi.......they are meana be well swift and highly tuneable!! I had an older estate TDi for a while and it averaged 60mpg with ease.

me dad had an RS octavia, was quite quick and nicely built, till some stupid women pulled out into the side of it.
After it was repaired he traded it in for an Astra GSi Turbo.

There not amazingly fast cars, yeah ok 180bhp is nice, but its a big old car!! Couple a big car with the build quailty of VW and it makes a heavy motor. The seats are a bit hard (not tried the RS, jsut the TDi) but supportive.

Easily tuned like any of the VAG engines and a few mods can see a good 220+bhp.

Makes things a little more interesting then.

So its a good family car, maybe if your getting a little older and want a 4 door for the kids, and room for the golf bag (hey thats an important item ) then go for it, otherwise, no big family, i'd stil look at something else.

Still a good car!
