that just makes me sick
If I ever see him I'll throw abuse at him
I hate that, rich parents getting him a foot in the door.
quote: In 2002 Jonathan took part in his first full season of Motorsport contesting the BRSCC T-Car Championship, Jonathan's parents purchased Tom Boardman's T-Car (now in TOCA production class) and he was run by Andrew Creighton of Advent Motorsport. Jonathan achieved 9 podium finishes during the course of the year and finished 4th overall
The thing is, his parents probably bought him the previous years winning car - and as a result had a big advantage over most of the pack.
You imagine some people in the middle of the grid struggling to afford to even stay competitive and then he gets the best car out there ... look at jenson button - 1st he was with a decent team and did well, then he was with a crap team and did shit, now BAR are getting better and he's getting better.
My point is, whatever skill you are - if you have a decent car and a lot of money behind you, it really really helps...
Oh look he gets a sponser deal, part of the deal is probably backing from his rich parents
Bastards.

yeh apparently my sister's b/friend went to the same school as him (well... jenson went to my sister's b/friends old school lol)
just annoys me when other people get oppotunities in life, not necisarily because of how good they are, but coz of their parents.
For example, actors getting a foot in the door coz their parents were actors, same with singers...
It's not even that bad when their parents were actors, so their son / daughter gets to be one - but when its basically the parents say 'hey son, what do you want to be when your older and they go ... em racing driver' and they chuck as much money as possible at them to get their dream - it's just sickening
That T-Car they bought must of been at least 20-30 grand, plus racing costs and more - they would of been spending loads!
I come from a whole family of racers - Bikes / Cars... my dad used to race bikes with a lot of the people that are in or were in Superbikes / Moto GP now, but after an injury off the track on his bike - he decided to move from bikes to car racing. His brother also raced. Both did well, but without £££ backing you basically will struggle to win against the sponsered teams!
My dad's family were poor, so there were no sorta leg ups like that for them... so they were racing with their own hard earned cash as support, my uncle working with minardi for a short while.
My parents are a bit better off than my dad's parents were, but still they can't afford to send me racing and even if they did, it'd only be a dodgy old metro or mg meistro
Not a bloody T-Car or Porsche!!!
Life's not fair

Yeah but what makes me laugh about Jenson is the fact that where we live/he lives there aint a race track for flipping miles

put it a different way, if you were rich, and money didnt mean too much to you, and your son was quite good at racing, and wanted to take it a stage further, would you do all you could for him?
i think so

ah yes, but didn't you read the site?
Basically it says in his history, he had never raced before previously. Then one day he saw a T-Car and loved it, so his parents bought him one and he raced it with the help from some top people.
He might not even be any good at racing, to be honest in that sorta level of racing - the car itself will make a big difference and since it says his parents bought him the previous year's winning car - he's pretty much got a big avantage over most of the pack already.
I'd like to check that site in 6 months time when he has his results from his porsche racing - the sponsered team he's going to possibly isn't the best like his car was in the previous racing... so it'll show whether its his skill that wins or the car...

His parents probably have made themselves a successful business out of nothing---they can spend it on what they want as far as im concerned.
Motor racing is all about having financial backing---some will get it from sponsers, others from there parants---whats the problem

Jonathan was lucky enough to purchase a Mini One out of his race winnings for 2003 (plus a little extra from mum & dad!). He specified the car very well but wasn't happy to leave it at that. Since owning the car he has changed the bonnet to that of a Mini Cooper 'S' (courtesy of Simon Leonard for all his hard word during the season), changed the exhaust (courtesy of his brother Ben - donated for his 17th birthday), changed the back lights to white, the petrol filler cap, added some 18" jazzy wheels, had the car lowered along with tinting the windows black. Add to that a few Cooper 'S' badges (courtesy of e-bay and you have a Mini Cooper 'S' replica looking pretty smart (see photo gallery and the forthcoming article in 'Go Mini' magazine)..
why not just buy a bloody cooper "s" then GRRR spoilt brat!
