Cisco Certified Network Associate

Network-based stuff, TCP/IP theory, router-configs, that sort of thing. Lasts for 3 years, and once you have it, you can look towards getting CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), and then your CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert).

By working in the IT business for years...

And P4UL, if you're being offered it, take it. The company I work for run their own CCNA classes, pay for your exams, and then give you a hefty payrise & bonus if you pass (or so I've been told, anyway).

I do a degree called Multimedia Communication Systems

It covers programming, computer networks, web design, HCI, client server stuff, project management and business. it covers pretty much everything and i really enjoy it, its quite hands on but we have to do the odd essay or report. Ask me again in 18 months time and ill have had a year in industry
