150 quid would get them there and back and accomodated for a night with breakfast. That'd wouldn't leave you with much for the gift, and I'm sure you can buy ex-rental VHS tapes in this country if that's what you want

Tell them to put it in a savings account and arrange to pay 50 quid pm in there yourself. Then buy something for 750 quid next year and thank them for how much they lavished on you and tell them that you appreciate them. The gift of impetus. Nothing finer.
