Rite i'm really confused thought you could change the clutch like on novas just take the cover plate off and with a special kit you could clamp the plates togetha with some one on the clutch pedal and then undo the bolts and drop it out but i have been told by other people that you can't do this on the ecotec engines haven't had a good look but there is a cover plate the same as on the nova ne advice much appreciated

Cheers

You need to take the entire gearbox out of a 1.4 16v corsa engine. I have a Black Diamond Clutch for sale for this engine if you want it £90 plus postage

can be a bitch of a job man. i did mine on the weekend

check to see if you have the easy type first mate

i checked mine and it wasnt possible to remove clutch without removing the gearbox. ie there was no spline on the first motion shaft to insert the tool into.

gearbox was dragged out and it turned out that inside was a standard flywheel and not a pot flywheel. very confusing as to why it didnt have the spline in the first motion shaft.

anyway, buy yourself a haynes to assist you and if you need any help pm me and i will do my best to give you a hand

took about 6 1/2 hours on the drive with no power tools and that was while drinking cups of tea and smoking fags

no you dont have to remove the gearbox

remove the inspection plate

remove diff cover plate

pull out input shaft

remove release bearing

undo clutch releasing clamps on side of clutch cover.

turn engine over by hand and undo each clutch cover bolt individually from flywheel.

Remember to use a clutch plate aligning tool

Replace release bearing and use threadlock on the clutch cover bolts.

Place input shaft in

Replace covers.

Reconnect Clutch cable

voila

this only applies to f10/f13 gearboxes which you should have.

UTTER ARSE!

how do you know that for sure. i thought mine was gonna be easy but the box had to be taken out as there was no place on the first motion shaft for the tool to connect to.

and my box is an f13 before anyone asks

right ok ppl,

why did i remove the input shaft from the diff cover plate on a 1.4 16v corsa 3wks ago and successfully change the clutch without touching a mounting bolt or bellhousing bolt!

also my mates 1.6 has the same F13 GEARBOX which allows this to be done the same

and a mates F15 box on his corsa Gsi doesnt have a inspection plate that WILL involve the box coming out for clutch removal.

BORN_CORSA02 - check if you have a flywheel inspection plate, if u do the box can remain in situ for clutch removal and change
